Obituary

Wilma P. Allred, 80, of Rochester passed away at 5:25 PM, on May 25, 2013 at Life Care Center of Rochester. She was born June 10, 1932, to Samuel and Pearle Belle (Metzger) Woods in Kewanna, IN. Following graduation in 1950 from Kewanna High School, Wilma was employed by Armour Creameries in Rochester as a licensed milk tester. On April 2, 1959 Wilma was married to Tommy Calvin Allred, who died on December 19, 1990. Wilma also worked as a mag-card typist for the Chester White Record Association. As a loyal member of First Baptist Church, Wilma served through the years as a Sunday School teacher, member of the Finance Board, Board of Christian Education, Deaconess, Financial Secretary and was Church Secretary for 15 years. Wilma retired in 2003 from Woodlawn Hospital, where she worked in the Medical Records Dept. for 17 years. She is survived by one son, Larry D. Sparks and wife Cathleen, Bloomington; two daughters: Sharon Kay Morris and husband David, and Linda Jean Allred, all of Rochester; four nephews: Kenneth Gifford and wife Mary, LaMar Gifford and wife Delores of Logansport, William Gifford and wife Dina of Galveston, and James Gifford and wife George Ann of Kokomo. Preceding in death besides her husband and parents was one sister, Mable A. Gifford, and one niece Sandra Gifford. Wilma has generously donated her remains to the Anatomical Education Program of the Indiana University School of Medicine for research and education. A celebration of life will be held Saturday, June 1 at the First Baptist Church in Rochester, with Dr. Mark Spencer officiating. Friends may call on the family at 9:30 AM with services to follow at 11:00 AM. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Rochester or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements have been entrusted to Good Family Funeral Home of Rochester.
