William "Bill" Fisher was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 3:32 p.m. Saturday at Memorial Hospital at South Bend. A Rochester resident he lived at 2373 N. 450 East. Bill was born on Feb. 2, 1965, in Rochester, to Roy and Violet (Smith) Fisher. Bill grew up on the family farm with his brother John. During this time he developed his passion for farming. A 1983 graduate of Rochester High School, Bill was very active with the Future Farmers of America. He loved maintaining a herd of fine Suffolk sheep as a priority in his life. Pioneer brand seeds were second to none, grain farming and his mixed herd of pigs were cared for with great pride by Bill. The summer brought Bill to the men's softball park and cheering for his brother John and nephew Nathan's games. He helped his mom with the planting of bulbs and flowers to add color to their landscape. He was a member of Rochester IOOF Lodge No. 47 of which he served the esteemed appointment of Past Noble Grand, the men's Tuesday night bowling league on the IOOF team, and the Fulton County Historical Power Association. Cruising the streets in his blue GMC, Sugar Bear, his faithful canine companion, a Belgian shepherd, could be seen at his side. Survivors include his parents, Roy and Violet Fisher, Rochester; brother John Fisher and wife Lee Ann, Rochester; paternal grandfather Don Fisher, Rochester; niece Wendy Merrill & husband Jimmy; nephew Nathan Flory & fiancée Brit; four great-nieces and nephews, Lukas, Kadyn, Brayson, and Makayla; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; many special friends including Lynn Frye; and his canine companion Sugar Bear. A celebration of the life of Mr. William "Bill" Fisher is at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with the Rev. Larry Frye officiating. Friends may visit with his family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to services. The Rochester IOOF Lodge No. 47 will conduct a memorial service Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m. He will be laid to eternal rest at Rochester's IOOF Cemetery.
