Born on November 6 , 1971 in Rochester, Wayne DeWitt Thorrington was the treasured son of James F. and Virginia A. Mills Thorrington. Growing up he shared his childhood with 3 sisters. In 1990 he graduated from Caston High School.

Wayne dedicated his life to nourishing and caring for residents of assisted living facilities. He lived simple life and impacted all he came into contact with. His motto was to "do what makes you happy, and forget everything else." Wayne found joy in the little things like a written word, the weather, nature, the stars in the sky, a burning fire, coffee, cookies, dark humor, his spirit animals: wolves and dragons, and above all else, love. He was a good, sweet, solitary giant, with a heart of gold, and will be sorely missed by all who loved him.

Left to cherish Wayne's memory are: his son, Tristan Thorrington, Paris, MS, domestic partner - Holli N. Staats, Ayden, NC, mother - Ginny Thorrington, Kokomo, sisters; Lonnie Markley, Tonnie Vigar, Peru, Jodi May, Kokomo, nieces and nephews; Kirsten Courtner, Butler, TN, Nic (Ashley) May, Shailea (Jessica) May, Kokomo, Zach (Kyrsten) Vigar, Derek Vigar, Denver, great nieces and nephews; Haylee (Simon) Guy, Matthew and Jacob Courtner, Jalen, Joshua, Mischalay and Nicholas Jr. May and Everhett Vigar, great-great niece Oakley Guy, and numerous aunts,  uncles, and cousins.

Preceding Wayne in death are his paternal grandparents - Emmett and Forrest Thorrington, maternal grandparents - Wayne and Mildred Mills, Father - Jim Thorrington, nephew - Matt Stout, brothers-in-law - Franklin (Tiny) Filbey, Jeff Markley.

A Celebration of Life for Wayne Thorrington will be at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester, Tuesday, March 28 , 2023. Gathering of family and friends from 1:00 - 2:00 PM, Service is at 2:00 PM.

I love the smell of fresh turned earth,

Two lane blacktop, and roads of dirt.

Wide open spaces is who I am.

No concrete jungles for this simple man.

Coffee sips out in dawn's sunkissed morn.

Waving leaves, playing kittens freshly adorn

A dew-glazed scene, not locked in a screen,

But with smells, touches, summoning serene.

Cacti bulbs of purple, bright red far off barns

Contrast yellow fields of unharvested farms.

Tall pines with their evergreen needles,

Reach heavenly, Mother Nature's steeples.

'Tis me, who I will forever be.

A heart of three chord country,

And forgotten rock and roll.

They tell my stories, soothe my weary soul.

I ne'er cared to be anything else.

Just a well enjoyed book on a dusty shelf.

No drama, not always a bad day,

But acknowledge troubles, faith them away.

Boast in the seconds, moments make us free,

Pull your heart up; sit a spell with me.

Your office buildings or strip-malls be damned.
