Wanda Jean
Hawkins
Oct 4, 1957 — Apr 21, 2025
Wanda Jean Hawkins, 67, of Warsaw was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away unexpectedly on April 21, 2025, at Lutheran Hospital-Kosciusko.
On October 4, 1957, Wanda Jean Tackett was born in Warsaw. She was the treasured daughter of Hargus and Norma Jean Heeter Tackett. Growing up she shared her childhood with four brothers and a sister.
In Jackson, Tennessee on October 16, 1987, Wanda married her soulmate and best friend, Mr. William Lee "Bill" Hawkins. Together they enjoyed 32 years of life's adventures, making many memories. In her earlier years, with a servant's heart and the desire to give care to those in need Wanda worked as a certified nursing assistant at Kosciusko Community Hospital.
A close-knit family, Wanda enjoyed her most recent years sharing the home of David and Angela. Prior to this she and Bill enjoyed starting their life together in the beautiful state of Tennessee. Later they moved to North Carolina before returning to Indiana to enjoy more time with family.
Left to cherish Wanda's memory are her brothers: David (Angela) Tackett of Warsaw, Larry Tackett of Talma, Tim (Shelly) Tackett of Columbus, David Swank of Warsaw and Judy Sumrall and family of California; special cousins, Joan and Cheryl. As an aunt who was adored she leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and her long haired Chihuahuas: Odie the multicolored and Jericho the black with white accents.
Preceding Wanda in death are her parents Hargus and Norma Jean Tackett, beloved husband Bill and her loving Chihuahuas that have crossed Rainbow Bridge: Ruby Jo, Missy, Coca Cola and Bubba Joe.
A celebration of the life of Wanda Jean Hawkins will be at noon on Friday, April 25, 2025, in the Good family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester. Pastors Luis and Karla Quiroz will officiate. Her family will greet friends from 11:00 AM until the time of the service. Burial will follow in the Athens- Mt. Hope Cemetery next to Bill.
