Timothy A. Wetzel, 48, 405 W. Dunn St., Fulton, passed away at 10:40 p.m. Thursday at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne. He was born on Dec. 29, 1962, in Tell City, to Edgar A. and Judy Bryant Wetzel. Tim graduated from Caston Educational Center in 1982 where he enjoyed active membership with the Future Farmers of America. Patriotism beckoned Tim and he enjoyed serving our country with the U.S. Air Force from 1983 to 1990. On April 28, 1984, Tim and Tammy Bahney were married at the Olive Branch Church of God, Roann. Their union produced two children, Ashley and Shaun. Tim enjoyed fatherhood and supporting his kids with their school activites. He enthusiastically followed Shaun's soccer career at Caston then at Ancilla College. As a Grandpa, "Pa-Pa," he looked forward to visits with his grandchildren when Ashley and Mayo brought them by. Enjoying community service, Tim was there to always help. He was a loyal member of the Liberty Township Fire Department for over fifteen years. During the mid-90s he served Fulton County as our 911 coordinator. Most recently he assisted those in need, illness or injury as an advanced emergency medical technician with the Pulaski County EMS. Tim was an avid collector of fire house memorabilia. He also enjoyed relaxing in his favorite recliner with his canine companions. Tim is lovingly remembered by his wife, Tammy Wetzel, at home; his mother Judy Brothers, Tell City; daughter Ashley Medina and husband Mayo, Rochester; son Shaun Wetzel, South Bend; two grandchildren, Audrianna Michelle Medina and Antonio Medina; and canine companions, Jada, Buster, Roxy, Butterball the Chihuahua-terrier mixes and Dusty the German Shepherd. He was preceded in death by his father. A celebration of the life of Tim Wetzel is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with the Rev. Bruce Russell officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home Tuesday. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the LeRoy Shelton American Legion No. 36 and the Manitou Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1343, both of Rochester. Liberty Township Fire Department will also provide a special fireman's service at the graveside complete with the last call. He will be laid to eternal rest in the Fulton Cemetery.
