Mr. Thomas S. Winks, 83, formerly of Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away Thursday, December 12 , 2019,  at his residence in Ladson, SC.

On May 2 , 1936 in Noble County, Tom was born to Eugene Basil and Elizabeth E. Swank Winks. He graduated with the class of 1954 from Rochester High School.  Tom continued his education at Indiana University at Bloomington.  Answering the call of patriotism, he served with the U.S. Army and was honorably discharged at the rank of Second Lieutenant.

Tom and Linda Jane Peters were married in 1962. From their union came three handsome sons: Scott, Robert and Thomas.  The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of three grandchildren.

Later, Tom married Barbara Truesdell who survives.

Mr. Winks taught in the North Miami School System for many years as an elementary teacher, and was an insurance agent for more than forty years. He enjoyed coaching minor league baseball during the 1970's and was an avid fan of Indiana Basketball.  Goooooo Hoosiers !!! He was also a proud member of the first undefeated Rochester Zebra High School Football Team in 1953.  #ZEBRANATION

Preceding Tom in death are his parents, Gene and Elizabeth Winks, and beloved wife Linda on July 27 , 1987.

A graveside memorial service will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 9 , 2020 at the Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted by the Fulton County Veterans Honor Guard and the US Army Honors Team.
