Obituary

Mrs. Sue McCowan, 71, of Rochester, passed away at 7:01 AM on Thursday, June 29 , 2017 at her residence.
On July 6 , 1945 Sue was born in Gary.  She was the treasured daughter of Thomas Gene and Patricia M.  Barnett.  Growing up she shared her childhood with two brothers and a sister.  She graduated in 1964 from Merrillville Senior High School.
Sue and Maris "Moe" McCowan were married on April 1 , 1964, in Bardstown, TN. They have shared 53 years of life's adventures.  From their union came three wonderful children Annette, Julie and Scott.  Over the years family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of eight grandchildren and six great-grands.
For more than 25 years Sue was  a dedicated member of the St. Anthony's Medical Center team in Crown Point.  She served as supervisor of the central supply for the hospital, retiring in 1996.  It was at this time that she and Moe decided to move to the country, coming to Fulton. County.
Sue and Moe were members of The Cross.  She enjoyed the challenges of Sudoku and crossword puzzles.  Gifted with her hands and an eye for craftiness, Sue crocheted doillies, afghans, and quilts.  She expressed herself artistically with stained-glass and ceramics.  To relax she enjoy old classic country music.  Her favorite group was the Oak Ridge Boys. Grandma Sue enjoyed the return home of her family at the holidays and for special family celebrations.

Left to cherish the memories of Sue are her husband, Moe;  two daughters: Annette Hines and husband Mark of Charleston, Julie Franz and husband Eric of Crown Point;  a son, Scott David McCowan and wife Jessica Ann of Indianapolis;  nine grandchildren: Marissa Hines, Austin Franz, Brett McCowan, Kristi McCowan, Shayna Franz, Brandon McCowan, Kara McCowan, Kendall McCowan; six great grandchildren:  Payton Huff, Ruby, Trinity, Emily, Kinley McCowan, Liana McCowan; and a sister, Shirley Jean Stoner and husband Albert of Macy.

Preceding Sue in death are her parents and two brothers: Thomas Gene Barnett and Curtis Gene Barnett.

Private family services will be held for Sue.
