Sue Ellen (Manmiller) Johnson passed from this earthly life into the arms of God on Monday, December 6, 2021, at the home of her son, Paul, in Columbus, Indiana, where she has lived the past year.
Sue was the only child of William and Roseanna Jean (Wareham) Manmiller, born July 18, 1935, in Peru, Indiana. She attended Peru High School where she played the drums in the marching band. She had a close group of friends in high school she called the "Gang," who continue to correspond regularly. She graduated in 1953.
Sue married James Irvin Johnson, her high school sweetheart in Peru on August 22, 1954. She was a dedicated wife, and mother to three children, Paul (Melinda) Johnson of Columbus, Indiana, Julie (Bryan) Lewis of Rochester, Indiana, and David (Rachelle) Johnson, of Fulton, Indiana.
Sue's legacy of faith continues on in her children, and in her grandchildren - Jill Spaulding, Eric Johnson, Mark Johnson, Lanae Peter, Aaron Peter, Jessica Tackett, Garrett Johnson, Dylan Johnson, and Hayley Johnson.
She loved her great-grandchildren: Shelby Rudicel, Zoie Rudicel, Tanner Spaulding, Cole Johnson, Oliver Johnson, Harper Johnson, Maizie Johnson, Adarius Ranstead, Roscoe Hoover, John Tackett, and Brantley Tackett. In addition, Sue has 12 bonus grandchildren-Abby Spaulding, Brookley Allmon, Logan Scott, Leigha Eber, Leighton Eber, Brie & Richie Notz, Greg & Laura Lewis, Maddie & Tyler Hinora, and a bonus great-great grandson, Britten Holcomb.
Sue was a long standing member of Grace United Methodist Church, and held offices in United Methodist Women and Church Women United. She also was an active member of Tri Kappa Sorority and Eastern Star.
She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a son-in-law, Gregory Peter.
The funeral will be on Saturday, December 11, 2021 at 1 p.m. at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18 th Street, Rochester, Indiana, with Brad Hisey officiating. Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. – 1 p.m. prior to the service. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery in Peru. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in Sue's memory to Grace United Methodist Church, 201 W. 7 th Street, Rochester, Indiana, 46975.
