Obituary

Mr. Stanley "Stash" L. Bugno, 83, of Rochester, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away Friday at 3:54 p.m. at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. He was born on December 10, 1927 from the union of Louis and Irene Novoski Bugno. He shared his childhood with five sisters and two brothers. Following high school, Stanley enlisted to serve in the United States Navy during World War II. Upon his return to the states he became a railroader, working as a freight conductor for the Conrail Company. He retired after 50 years of dedicated service in 1992. On January 12, 1952, in Camden, New Jersey, Stanley married his best friend and the love of his life, Eleanor C. Connell. Together they shared nearly six decades of life's adventures and raising a wonderful family. They are parents of a daughter, Joy and two sons, Craig and Curt. Over the years the family tree flourished as 12 grandchildren were born. To relax, Stanley was a fisherman. While living on the East Coast he often fished the Atlantic off the Jersey Shores near Ocean City. The catch of the day was the delicacy blowfish. Upon his return he removed the tasty fillets and the family enjoyed. Stanley and Eleanor moved to the serene little town of Rochester in 1996 to further enjoy their retirement, life in the country and watching their grandchildren grow into adulthood. Many times Stanley would trek to the family's pond where the favorite catch was blue gill, bass and catfish. As the patriarch of the family, Stanley oversaw three generations. He cherished and adored all of his grandchildren and followed them during their school years, whether it was going to a concert or cheering at the games, Stanley and Eleanor would always be among the spectators. They loved babysitting, attending grandparent's days, and celebrating the kids' birthdays, as in their eyes family was paramount. Stanley "Stash" is lovingly remembered by his wife Eleanor at home, 1 daughter Joy Bennett and husband James of Harlingen, Texas, and their children Jessica, Joshua, Jenna, Jordan and Juliet; 2 sons: Dr. Craig Bugno M.D. and wife Susan, Rochester, and their children Stephanie, Heather, Kaitlyn and Cameron; Curt Bugno and wife Pamela of Marlton, N.J. and their children Drew, Rebekah, Sara Knoedler and husband Corey. He is also survived by 4 sisters: Elizabeth, Dorothy, Theresa and Mary, and 2 brothers, David and Louis. He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Esther. He will be laid to eternal rest at Rochester's IOOF Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be accorded by the Manitou V.F.W. Post and the LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post.
