Obituary

Mary "Sis" Zartman, 94, of Rochester passed away at 9:22 PM on Wednesday, December 29, 2021 at her residence.

On December 21, 1927, Mary Ellen was born in Rochester to Alvin Lee and Chloe Arletta Ewing Johnson.  Growing up she shared her childhood with her big brother Lee and earned her nickname Sis. As a Fulton Bulldog, she graduated from Fulton High School in 1945. While in school, she had perfect attendance for 12 years and earned a Citizenship Award.

Sis and Michael L. Zartman were married on April 21, 1946 in Fulton County. They shared 43 years of life's adventures. Sadly, he passed away on December 27, 1989. Their union produced two daughters and a son. Three more generations have been added to the family tree.

At 77 years old, Sis retired from her lifetime of farming.  Bowling At Quick Lanes with the Pin-Toppers was always a great way to strike up conversations with friends. She was also a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution.

Left to cherish the memories of Sis are her two daughters: Melody Taylor and husband Michael of Rochester, Deb Weekley and husband Kenny of Rochester; son Douglas Zartman of Rochester; two grandchildren: Kendra Carlson and husband Jeffrey Grant, Kristen Garrison and companion Rusty Cauffman; there are many  grandchildren with in the blended family; 10 great grandchildren; 8  great great grandchildren plus another blessing due in February of 2022 and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Sis in death are her parents, husband and brother Lee "Bud" Johnson  and his wife Ramona.

A celebration of the life of Mary Ellen "Sis" Zartman will be at 1:00 PM Saturday, January 1, 2022 at the Safe Harbor Church, 1944 Sweetgum Road, Rochester. Friends may visit with the family from 11-1 in the church on Saturday.

Interment will be in the Mt. Zion Cemetery.
