Sherry Lee Rogers , 66 of Rochester, passed away at 10:37 a.m. Friday, March 10 , 2017, at  her residence following a valiant fight with cancer.

On February 18 , 1951, at Rochester's Woodlawn Hospital, Sherry Lee Evans was born.  She was  a treasured daughter  of Robert W. and Norma J. Bitterling Evans. Growing up she shared her childhood with her little sister, Christina.   During her youth Sherry attended Richland Center School. She completed her formal education in 1969  as a member of the first class to attend the new Rochester High School for all four years. Sherry was a member of the RHS marching Zebras,  playing the clarinet.  For her expertise in  business class, she earned an award in shorthand.

On July 24 , 1971 in the First Christian Church of Rochester, Sherry married the love of her life, Mr.  Russell Alan Rogers . They shared 36 years of life's adventures. During their early years of marriage Russ was serving our country with the US Air Force. Sherry and Russ lived in Germany and California.  A favorite memory was on New Year's Eve in 1972 when the couple spent the weekend in Paris, France.

As a receptionist and chair side assistant, Sherry worked for Dr. James Fritts DDS for a few years.  In 1973 she began working for Topps Safety Apparel in the office as bookkeeping, payroll and the general go to person.  She was dedicated for more than four decades, retiring earlier this year.

Skilled with her ability of handiwork, Sherry enjoyed quilting, knitting and macramé.  She was especially proud of her proficiency with tatting. This skill was taught by and  acquired from Grandma Evans.   Family and friends remember Sherry for her great sense of humor.

Embracing the outdoors Sherry and Russ enjoyed  the winter season snowmobiling.  In 2003 they toured Canada via snowmobile.  The Michigan trails  was  their  home away from home, as they enjoyed memorable escapades. Russ and Sherry were featured on the cover of "Outdoor Indiana," 2004 winter edition trailing on the snowmobiles at Salamonie Lake near Andrews.  The summer months brought on mini vacations and extended weekend trips on their motorcycle.

Sherry will be lovingly remembered by her father, Robert W. Evans; brother-in-law Doug Garvison and wife Susie; special  uncle Mick Evans and wife Judy, all of Rochester; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins, along with her cherished canine companion Marley, the tan Jack Russell Terrier.

Preceding Sherry in death are her mother Norma in 1993; husband Russ on July 25 , 2007; a sister Christina Jean Evans Swango in 2014; and her in-laws, Don and Marilyn Garvison.

Pastor Mike VanHeyningen will officate services.  She will be laid to eternal rest, next to her beloved husband, Russ in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
