Mrs. Sharon L. Stevens, 76, of Delong, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 7:56 PM on Wednesday, October 7, 2020 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.
On February 19, 1944, Sharon L. Chaney was born in Kewanna to Harry and Nora Rainey Chaney. As one of the six Chaney kids growing up she shared her childhood with two sisters, Joyce and Shirley, and two brothers, Bud and Kenny. In 1962, Sharon graduated from Aubbeenaubbee Township High School in Leiters Ford.
In Culver, Sharon and Hermel E. Stevens were married on September 28, 1963. They shared 45 years of life's adventures. Their union produced two daughters and three sons. The blessings of two more generations have been added to the family tree.
Initiating her day, Sharon read from her Bible as part of her daily devotions. She cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren while making many memories. For many years Sharon attended the Gospel Lighthouse Church of Delong, recently she had been attending The Cross.
Left to cherish Sharon's memory are two daughters: Denise Atkins and husband Mike of Grovertown, Deana Allen and husband Alan of Delong; three sons: David Stevens and wife Trudy of Warsaw, Donald Stevens and wife Dianna of Morehead, KY, Dwight Stevens and wife Rhonda of Delong; 12 grandchildren: Michael Atkins and wife Kayla, John Atkins and wife Jennifer, Laura Gagnon, Natasha Ewing and husband Jeremy, Danny Flenner, Jennifer Brunner and husband Jon, David Stevens and fiancé Kara Bates, Eric Stevens, Derrick Stevens and wife Allison, Jonathon Stevens and wife Haley, Alex Stevens, Jordan Willis and husband Chris; 21 great grandchildren; two sisters: Joyce Trusty of Rochester, Shirley Clinger of Delong; a brother, Kenneth Chaney and wife Millie of Wakarusa; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Sharon in death are her parents Harry and Nora Chaney; beloved husband Hermel on November 30, 2008; infant sister Sandra Chaney; and brother Harry "Bud" Chaney.
A celebration of the life of Sharon L. Stevens will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, October 10, 2020 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18 th St., Rochester. Pastor Martin Furrow will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 PM on Friday, October 9, 2020 and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment will follow in the Monterey Riverside Cemetery.
