Sharon Ann Reed, 57, 15310 Michigan Road, Argos, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 8:10 p.m. Thursday at her home. Born in Rochester on April 23, 1953, Sharon was the daughter of Don and Lorene (Rhodes) Spice. Growing up she shared her childhood with her brother Dennis and sister Susan. As a proud Flyer, Sharon graduated from Akron High School in 1971. She later earned her associate degree from Penn State University, qualifying her as a technician in dietary science. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Mentone. On June 10, 1972, Sharon and Michael A. Reed were married in the Akron Church of God. Their union of 38 years produced two wonderful daughters. More recently seven grandchildren were added to the family tree. As a homemaker, Sharon loved to cook, sew and garden. She also liked to read and enjoyed bicycle rides with her family. As a dietary technician Sharon was the food service director for Rochester Community Schools for a number of years. Her forte was teaching students information about the food pyramid and empowering them to assist with lunch planning during designated weeks. Healthy snacks like ants on a log were interesting ideas she shared to help keep kids healthy with after-school snacks. Sharon is lovingly remembered by her husband, Mike, Argos; two daughters, Melissa Lance and husband Wayne, Virginia Beach, Va., and Aimee Hrabosky and husband Luke, Mt. Hope, W.Va.; seven grandchildren, Jaden, Kayleigh, Addie, Micah, Gabe, Judah, and Lilly; parents Don and Lorene Spice, Rochester; sister Susan Green and husband Rick, Warsaw; brother Dennis Spice and wife Linda, Champaign, Ill.; and mother-in-law Elvira (Reed) Romine and husband Gerald, Mentone. A celebration of the life of Sharon Ann Reed is at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the First Baptist Church, Mentone, with the Rev. Mike Wilhite officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, and one hour prior to the service in the church. She will be laid to eternal rest in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Leukemia-Lymphoma Society or Hope Hospice of Fulton County.
