Mrs. Sharon J. Johnson, 73, of Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 6:04 AM Monday, December 30th, at Life Care Center of Rochester. On September 22, 1940, Sharon Jolene Hopkins was born in Salyersville, KY to Joe and Sadie Poe Hopkins. Growing up she shared her childhood with her sister Wanda. Later Sharon married the love of her life, William Henry "Bill" Johnson. Sadly he passed just a year ago on December 29, 2012. An avid reader, Sharon read books of all types. She was an accomplished seamstress sewing clothing for her family. Sharon enjoyed creating gifts of warmth by knitting and crocheting. To relax she watched black and white movies, and old westerns. Weekends brought on shopping Saturdays and garage sales. Sharon also was remembered for her delicious Italian spaghetti, juicy pork steak with cabbage, tacos, fried chicken and salmon patties! Sharon is lovingly remembered by two daughters: Misty Johnson and companion Chad Swango of Rochester, and Sonja Porter; and three grandchildren: Joshua & Ashli Swango and Clayton Geiger. Preceding Sharon in death are her parents, and husband, William Henry "Bill" Johnson, a sister Wanda Pontius and a brother-in-law, Larry Pontius, and two nieces, Shawna and Crystal Pontius. Burial will take place in the Citizen's Cemetery.
