Sara Marie Jordan, 63, of 1111 Jackson Blvd. Rochester, passed away at 7:57 AM, Tuesday, August 30th, 2011 at Milner Community Health Care, Rossville, IN. She was born in Indianapolis, on July 12, 1948 to Katherine Jordan. Graduating from Indiana University with an associates degree in respirtory therapy, Sara was a member of the air flight team based out of University of Kentucky and Good Samaritian Hospital. She also taught CPR and respiratory techiniques at smaller surrounding hospitals. Later she completed a stint of service at the Birmingham, Alabama Area. At home Sara enjoyed knitting, croucheting and reading medical mysteries, especially those authored by mothers and daughters. With great appreciation for music, she was an accomplished pianist. She enjoyed a vast variety of styles of music. A great sense of adventure, Sara enjoyed fishing and camping. Her favorite sites were Lakeview Camp Ground, near Akron and Cave Run nestled in the Cumberland Gap area of the Daniel Boone National Forest. She is survived by her life long companion, Sharon K. Moore of Rochester; a daughter, Mary Jean Kathryn "Katie" Blackaby of Lexington, KY; one sister, Barbara Jean Jordan of Virginia; two brothers, Cyrus Jordan and wife Katie of North Carolina, and Conrad Jordan and wife Truth of Indianapolis; grandson Owen Wayne Devine of Lexington, Kentucky; canine companion Little Bit, a Peke-A-Poo; and feline companions LeRoy, a Domestic Long Hair, and Gracie, a Siamese. She was preceded in death by her mother. A celebration of the life of Sara Jordan will be at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 1, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St. Rochester with Steve Moore officiating. Friends may visit with the family two hours prior to the service in the funeral home.
