Obituary

Mrs. Sandra Lee Scott, 77, of Largo, FL, formerly of Rochester, passed away Tuesday, November 1 , 2016 at the Largo Medical Center.

On November 14 , 1938, Sandra was born in Indianapolis.  She was the cherished daughter of Russell C. and Alice Hanna Askin Rhodes. In May of 1956, Sandy with great pride graduated from Southport High School.

In Rochester, on June 15 , 1957, Sandy married the love of her life Clyde J. "Scotty" Scott.  They shared 44 years of life's adventures. From their union came a handsome son.  The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of four grandchildren and two great-grandsons.

Sandy was a homemaker but also enjoyed a career as a bookkeeper for a manufacturing company.

After retirement, the Scott's were living the dream, as full time travelers in their  RV. It was Home Sweet Home! Calling the family to share their adventures and to catch up on the news was a daily  event. When closer to home, Sandy loved to spend time boating or watching the sunset over the sparkling  waters of Lake Manitou.  Keeping up to date, on the cutting edge of the weather, Sandy closely monitored the weather channel, with local weather on the 8's .

A woman of strong faith, Sandy read scriptures from her Bible first thing each morning.  An avid reader, she also enjoyed a good romance novel.  While living in South Bend-Niles area, the Tuesday Lunch Ladies shared lunch, the latest news and great friendships.  During the summer months in Niles, she attended the Clay United Methodist Church.

The summers spent in MIchigan allowed her to spend time making memories with the pride and joys of her life,   her four grandchildren. She cherished the time spent with them. Often she could be found cheering them on at their sporting events.  She also looked forward to the holidays, birthdays and special family celebrations.

After Scotty passed, Sandy was proud of her independence making the annual autumn trip to Largo, Florida by herself.  With a helpful heart she frequently volunteered to drive cancer patients for treatment and appointments.  Sandy was a devoted member of the Aldersgate United Methodist Church  and  the Order of Eastern Star both in Largo. Friday night BINGO was always a good time  as was the occasional trip to the dog races.

Left to cherish Sandy's memory are a son, Alan Scott and wife Rosanne "Roe" of Niles, MI; four grandchildren: Michael Scott and wife Alison, Christine Scott, Nicholas Scott and Jonathan Scott; two great grandsons: Mason Scott and Aiden Scott.  Preceding Sandy in death are her parents and beloved husband Scotty on August 20 , 2001 .

Pastor Kerry O'Brien will officiate services. Interment will be at the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
