Obituary

Sam Muffley, 73, of Plymouth was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 10:00 AM, Sunday, July 10, 2022 at his residence.

On April 20, 1944, Samuel Nye was born in Bremen to Roy and Ivadelle Pletcher Muffley. Proudly he graduated from Bremen High School with the class of 1967.

Sam and Diane L. Cunningham were married on May 22, 1981 in Rochester. They have shared 41 years of life's adventures.

Sam was an industrial plant manager for heating and air conditioning. He retired from Bards Manufacturing of GA. As an armchair quarterback, Sam loved to watch Notre Dame and the Chicago Bears. He was also a loyal fan of the White Sox.   Taking pride in his cars, Sam kept them immaculate and ready to roll. His lawn was always manicured and looked pristine.  In the spring, he enjoyed mushroom hunting at his secret locals.

Grandpa cherished the time with his grandchildren. Dad coached his daughter's softball championship team for several years. Great memories were made for both generations.

The Muffleys, often visited the casinos, their favorites were in Las Vegas, Tupelo, MS, South Bend and New Buffalo.

Left to cherish the memories of Sam are his wife, Diane; son, Steven Mahoney and wife Traci of Rochester; daughter, Summer Molitierno and husband Thomas of Plymouth; seven grandchildren: Mackenzie DuBois and husband Jon, Austin Mahoney, Macy Green, Roger Leon Karr, Grady Mahoney, Madison Travis, Tyler Travis; great granddaughter, Swayze Elizabeth Mahoney; sisters-in-law: Nancy Bailey and husband Charlie, Kathy Cunningham, Sandy Muffley; special aunt Louise Glingle; and canine companion, Lucy,  the black and white Australian Shepherd and Sheltie blend.

Preceding Sam in death are his parents, sister Sandra Allen and brother Steve Muffley.

A celebration of the life of Samuel Nye Muffley will be at 12 noon on Friday, July 15, 2022 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18 th St., Rochester. Friends may visit with the family from 10 – 12 on Friday in the funeral home. Sam's family ask that you dress comfortably and wear your favorite Notre Dame attire.
