Obituary

Mrs. Rowena G. Bryant, 93, of Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 3:12 AM, Friday, September 22 , 2017 at Logansport Memorial Hospital.
Near Athens, on July 11 , 1924, Rowena Grace McIntire was born.   She was a treasured daughter of Oval L. and Mary Mildred Craig McIntire.  As one of six children, growing up she shared her childhood with four brothers and a sister.
On June 12 , 1942, in Rochester Rowena and Kenneth Dean Bryant were married.  They enjoyed  over 67 years of life's adventures.  From their union came three wonderful children Ron, Janice and Mary.  Over the years the family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of five grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
As a  dedicated wife and loving mother Rowena was proud and focused on keeping the home in order, and embracing all the  domestic responsibilities keeping everything balanced.  During her children's formative years she oversaw many 4-H projects, especially those deriving from the kitchen.  She was always there with and for her kids and then as they arrived, the new generations.   She truly enjoyed her years at the A & W Root Beer drive-in working with Judy and Bob Timbers.
Family fun was a priority for Rowena and Kenny.  During the weekends and summer vacations they took many camping trips introducing the kids to the adventures of nature in a variety of geographic locations.  Packing, then heading out in their travel trailer to reach the campsite was a common  weekend occurrence.  A favorite destination was Broken Arrow  Campground in Winamac.
Possessing a special gift with handiwork, Rowena was a talented crafter.  She crocheted her family gifts of warmth, made doilies, needle point creations and plastic canvas.  To relax Rowena enjoyed reading craft and ladies magazines keeping on the cutting edge and ready to try a new idea.  This avid crafter enjoyed taking her creations to festivals and craft shows, many times accompanied by her sister-in-law Mary Jane.  Rowena was an active member of the Fulton County  Crafters for many years.
As the matriarch of the Bryant family, Grandma Rowena was proud to oversee five generations.  She especially looked forward to spending Christmas with her family making memories.  Whether it was  during the holidays, special family celebrations or on the campgrounds, one thing could be counted on,  spirited games of euchre or bingo, a tradition Grandma and Grandpa Bryant initiated years ago.

Rowena is lovingly remembered by two daughters: Janice Koch of Rochester, Mary Sundine and husband Steven of Rochester; a son, Ronald Bryant and wife Shawn of Rochester; five grandchildren: Janelle Shanes and husband Jim, David Koch and wife Kristy, Angie Merley and husband Eric, Jennifer Addison and husband Allen, Cherie Weir and husband Rick; 13 great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren;   sister Doris Crabill and husband Delmar of Charleston, IL; a brother, Leonard McIntire and wife Jane  of Kokomo; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Rowena in death are her parents, husband, grandson Todd Bryant, son-in-law Gene Koch, and three McIntire brothers: Alonzo, Herbert and Lawrence.

Pastors Phil Pratt and Junior Bose will officiate services. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
