Obituary

Mr. Ronald E. Miller, 74, of Rochester was surrounded by his loving family when he  passed away at 4:06 PM on Saturday, August 10 , 2019 at Lutheran Hospital of Fort Wayne.  His passing was a result of injuries sustained in a a motor vehicle accident.

On July 18 , 1945, Ronald Eugene Miller was born in Rochester.  He was a treasured son of Charles R.  and Marjorie McCalla  Miller.  Growing up he shared his childhood with a sister Marsha and two brothers Don and Dennis.  Ron  graduated from Rochester High School in 1964.

Patriotism beckoned and Ron answered the call serving our country with the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1965 - 1971.  He was honorably discharged, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant while serving as an infantry squad leader.  Continuing his service he was a member of the Indiana National Guard from 1981 - 1987.

On November 24 , 1973,  Ron married Donna Jean Norris, in Rochester.  They have shared  47 years of life's adventures.  They blended their family raising  four beautiful daughters: Julie, Tammy, Trina and Angie.  The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of  six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

With a strong work ethic, Ron worked for decades in the road construction service.  Over the years he was employed by McMahan - O' Connor, Coursey, E & B Paving and Gaunt & Sons.

Ron faithfully attended the Rochester Church of God.  He volunteered to help in many capacities including  landscaping projects beautifying the church grounds.  Ron was a vibrant, 41 year member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles #852.  During his years of service he was Past Worthy President,  trustee and entertainment chairman.  Ron was recognized as a "Golden Age Eagle," the pinnacle honor of the Eagles.

To relax, Ron enjoyed the freedom of catching the warm summer breeze on his motorcycle.  Around town he could be seen riding his scooter.  Annually he found great joy in decorating his home for Christmas and Halloween along with other holidays.  Many people looked forward to seeing his unique lighted displays that were accompanied by festive music or during Halloween scary sound effects.  Cruising by slowly to take in the sights and sounds was a treat.  Paramount in Ron's life was God, his family and life. His legacy of four generations reflects these  values.

Survivors include  his wife, Donna;  four daughters:  Julie Clupper of Kewanna, Tammy Kline and husband Tim of Kewanna, Trina Miller of Frankfort, KY, Angie Miller and fiancé Joe Marlin of  Lafayette; six grandchildren: Mark "Tony" Anthony Clupper, Latisha Scott, Glenn Scott, Landon Clupper, Melissa Hicks and Christopher Kline.; seven great-grandchildren, including Hunter Clupper, Faith Bartram, Jordon Bain;  two brothers: Don Miller and wife Deborah of Peru, Dennis Miller of North Platte, NE; nieces and nephews, Rex Robison and wife Kris, Lynn Miller and Leigh Thar-Strand.
