Mr. Roland "Rolly"  Powell, 74, of Akron passed away 4:36 PM on Thursday, September 23 , 2021 at Woodlawn Hospital.

On April 13 , 1947, Roland Eugene Powell  was born in Rochester to Boyd B. and Ruth N. DeHaven Powell. Growing up he shared his childhood with a sister and five brothers.  With great Flyer pride Rolly graduated from Akron High School with the class of 1965.

In the Rochester Church of God, Rolly and Debbie Sue Metheny were married on May 26 , 1989. They have shared 32 years of life's adventures.

With a lifelong passion for agriculture, as a farmer, Rolly, used his International 1466,  to plant soybeans and corn.   He meticulously mowed and groomed the 1- and 1/2-acre field to perfection. Rolly loved gardening and he annually harvested black walnuts. His memberships include the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, Shriners, Fort Wayne Mizpah and the Eagles.

Left to cherish Rolly's memory are his wife, Debbie; four daughters: Lesa Powell of Indianapolis, Rochelle Powell of Akron, Dominea Trigg of Akron, Brandy Kanouse and husband Rick of Rochester; sister Beverly Ross of Basehor, KS; two brothers: Denny Powell and wife Marsha of Warsaw, Mark Powell and wife Rebecca of Akron; numerous nieces and nephews; and four canine companions: Brownie, Tip, Max and Alaska.

Preceding Rolly in death are his parents; daughter Dawn Powell in November 1988; and three Powell brothers, Ollie, Larry and Bob.

A Masonic graveside service for Roland E. Powell will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, September 28 , 2021 in the Omega Cemetery.  A celebration of life will immediately follow with Pastors Mark Powell and Terry Metheny officiating.
