Obituary

Robert O. "Bob" Tipton 66, passed away at Woodlawn Hospital on Friday, January 4, 2013. Bob was born on November 20, 1946 in Fabius, Alabama, the cherished son of Chester and Audrey Phillips Tipton. Growing up he shared his childhood with his brother Chester. As a young man, Bob played the electric guitar or accordion while his brother played the drums. They enjoyed the jam sessions, entertaining friends in the basement of their home. In 1965, with great pride, Bob graduated with his class from Carpentersville High School in Carpentersville, IL Following high school, Bob answered the call of patriotism and served our country with the US Navy, retiring after 22 years of service. He trained at the Great Lakes Naval Station. At the conclusion of his career he taught classes on electricity near Memphis. A fisherman, Bob loved fishing around the lakes and ponds in Fulton County. On special occasions he traveled to Kentucky to fish for anything that would bite! Bringing home the limit of the catch of the day, his Mom would clean and fry them for all to enjoy. A lifelong patriot, Bob honored our country with memberships in the LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post # 36 and The Manitou V.F.W. Post # 1343. He was a member of the coveted Fulton County Military Honor Guard, paying tribute to all of those who have served. Bob is lovingly remembered by his wife Sue, his mother Audrey Jacks of Rochester, and Aunt Doris Conley of Culver, as well as numerous cousins and special comrades of the Fulton County Military Honor Guard. Preceding Bob in death are his father Chester G. Tipton and his brother Chester G. Tipton Jr. Military rites will be accorded by the Fulton County Military Honor Guard and the US Navy Honors Team. Arrangements are pending at the Good Family Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Rochester
