Robert "Rabbitt" J. Nye Jr., 50, of Rochester, passed away unexpectedly at 2:16 AM on Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Life Care Center of Rochester. On January 14, 1963, Robert was born in Rochester, the treasured son of Robert J. Sr. and Wanda Zartman Nye. Growing up he shared his childhood with three sisters. In 1981 with great pride Robert graduated from Rochester High School. Following high school he served our country with the U.S. Navy achieving the rank of E3. As a truck driving professional, Robert took to the roads doing day trips in his 18-wheeler around the Midwest. He was known as "Rabbitt" to his trucking pals and close friends. At home he enjoyed working on his car, the challenging game of chess, crossword puzzles, Nintendo, video games and watching westerns on TV. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Eagles Lodge. Robert is lovingly remembered by his mother Wanda Nye and companion Charles Halter; his father Robert J. Nye Sr. and wife Doris, all of Hot Springs, AR; 3 sisters: Kathleen Albertson and husband Joe of Carrollton, GA, Lennie Nye, and Shelly Cooley both of Hot Springs, AR; his lifetime friend and companion Martha Vires of Rochester; 2 daughters: Crystal "Kiddo" Tuttle of Rochester, Angela Fields of Akron; 2 sons: Mike Vires of Rochester, and Jimmy Vires of Indianapolis. Preceding him in death are his grandparents Albert and Blanche Bailey and an infant son John Keith Nye. Pastor Mike McFarland will officiate services. Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Honor Guard and the U.S. Army Honors Team.
