Mr. Robert "Bob" Alan Goodman Jr. 64, of Rochester passed away unexpectedly at his home on June 1, 2019.

He was born in Rochester on December 21, 1954. He was the oldest child born to Robert A. And Jean Bradley Goodman Sr. Growing up, he shared his childhood with sister Teresa and brother Patrick. As a student, he played defensive tackle and offensive guard for the Rochester High School Zebra football team wearing the #63. He graduated from RHS in 1973.

Bob married the love of his life, Cindy Lou Dell, at the Hillcrest Baptist Church on October 23, 1976. Together they shared over 42 years of life's adventures. From their union came two beautiful daughters Jami Lyn and Cassie Lee. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of six wonderful grandchildren.

With a strong work ethic, Bob went to work for the Rochester Telephone Company. He began his career as a lineman and retired from RTC as a senior network technician after 34 years of service in 2009. He then went on to work as the sales manager for an online company, Barriers Unlimited.

Bob spent a great amount of time and energy benefiting others. He was currently the president of the Manitou V.F.W. Post #1343 Men's Auxiliary and served as a member of the Fulton County Veteran's Honor Guard. He was also a member of the LeRoy Shelton American Legion Post #36. Other memberships included: Past President of the Park Board, RHS Athletic Booster Club, Fraternal Order of the Eagles, and in his younger years was the President of the Jaycees.

Bob was a patriot. He loved his country and had strong opinions on all things political. He loved his family. So many precious memories were made. From family vacations to Lake Michigan, Crystal Mountain and Florida, and holiday get togethers, to forcing him to walk the streets of Disney in what must have been 100 degree heat… He wanted his family to be happy. He loved his friends. There was nothing like sharing a cold beer with any one of them or helping them out with a weekend project or two. Bob was hilarious. He was always cracking jokes and playing pranks, and he had an uncanny way of changing the lyrics to any given song. He was the life of every party and was never one to just sit at home.

Bob enjoyed so many different hobbies throughout his life. He was an avid golfer. As a member of the Mill Creek golf league, he looked forward to playing every Monday night. He loved the Bears and the Cubs. He was blessed to take one of his grandsons to a Cubs game just last year. He enjoyed deer hunting, mushroom hunting, fishing (on ice or open water), volunteering, meeting up with friends, playing cards, watching old western movies and collecting all kinds of fancy tools (even if he was never really going to use them). Bob never took life too seriously and always lived it to the fullest.

Bob was a proud grandpa. He was adored by every one of his six grandkids who knew him only as Gampy. He was always singing them silly songs, making hilarious sound effects, and wearing funny outfits just to make them smile. He found joy in listening to them belly laugh as he bounced them on his knee, calling them on FaceTime, and taking them on lawn-mower rides. Nobody will ever make biscuits and gravy quite like Gampy.

Left to cherish Bob's memory are his wife Cindy Goodman at home; two daughters: Jami Wade and husband Greg and their children Ava Isabelle, Owen Gregory, Easton Bradley and Isla Claire, all of Maple Grove, MN; Cassie Murphy and husband Eric and their children Emma Lynnae and Eli Robert, all of Rochester; mother Jean Goodman of Rochester; a sister, Teresa Mayes and husband Tim of Indianapolis; a brother, Patrick Goodman and wife Lisa of Rochester; along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. Preceding Bob in death are his father Robert A. Goodman Sr. and his grandparents.

A celebration of the life of Mr. Robert "Bob" Goodman Jr. will be Thursday, June 6, 2019 at 10:00 AM in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester. Friends may visit with his family on Wednesday, June 5th from 4:00-7:00 PM and an hour prior to his services on Thursday. Pastor Mike Cloud will officiate. Burial will follow in Rochester's IOOF Cemetery. Preferred memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Fulton County Veteran's Honor Guard or the Friends of the Fulton County Parks.
