Mr. Robert P. "Bob" Brown, 93, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 5:45 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2013 at Hickory Creek of Rochester. A lifetime resident of Rochester, born on November 6, 1919, Robert Paul was the treasured son of Eugene and Ella Winn Brown. Growing up as one of eleven children, Bob shared his childhood with 5 sisters and 3 brothers. On June 22, 1938, Bob married the love of his life who later became his best friend, Willodean Wagoner. Their union spanned 69 wonderful years until her passing on November 11, 2007. Together they raised two wonderful sons, Jerry and Dennis. Over the years, the family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of eight grandchildren, seventeen great-grandchildren and eight great-great-grandchildren. As the patriarch of the Brown family, t was with great pride that Papa Brown oversaw five generations. As a truck driving professional, Bob was an independent contractor, moving feed for warehousing. In the later years he did custom grain hauling for farmers all over northern Indiana. As members of the church for a half century, Willodean and Bob were among the founding members of the Hillcrest Baptist Church in the early 1960's. Bob enjoyed the camaraderie with his friends around the McDonald's coffee table in the mornings and afternoons. Catching up on the latest and solving the world's problems were accomplishments made here. Left to cherish his memory are a son, Gerald "Jerry" Brown and wife Cheryl, Rochester; 8 grandchildren: Jennifer Utter and husband Randy, Rochester, Julie Brown, Rochester, Paul Brown, Jacksonville, Florida, Ralph Brown, Austin, TX, Robert Brown and wife Trish, Newman, Ga., Denise Wagner and husband Tom, Lafayette, Susan Bushman, Delphi, Gretchen Roy and husband Bill, Monticello; 17 great-grandchildren; 7 great- great grandchildren; brother Fred Brown, Rochester; sister Maxine Sifford and husband Jack, Largo, Fl; brother-in-laws Cletis Wagoner and wife Beverly, Leiter's Ford, and Cleon Wagoner, Plymouth; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Dennis Brown, 3 sisters: Fern Jackson, Elsie Ball, Ruth Kochenderfer Pauline Brown; 2 brothers: Earl and Arlo; toddler twin siblings; and 2 brother -in-laws Cledo and Virgil Wagoner. Rev. George Shoemaker will officiate services. . Burial will follow at the Rochester IOOF Cemetery where he will be laid to eternal rest next to his beloved wife Willodean.
