Obituary

Mrs. Rebecca "Becky" Reichard, 90, of the Leiters Ford community passed away at 2:16 AM, Friday, August 18 , 2017 at Millers Merry Manor of Culver.

In Anoka, on April 12 , 1927, Rebecca McMannus was born.  She was a treasured daughter of  Dennis and Goldie Stewart  McManus.  Growing up as one of the ten McManus children she shared her childhood with four sisters and five brothers.  In 1946 she graduated from Leiters Ford High School.

On March 12 , 1947 in the Leiters Ford United Methodist Church, Becky married the love of her life, Mr.  Clifford C. Reichard.  They shared 56 years of life's adventures.  From their union came a daughter Nancy and a son Dennis.  The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two more generations.
Being one of ten children, and spending her early formative years during the depression, Becky developed a strong work ethic as a youngster.  Some will remember her working at the Culver Telephone Company, or Federal Mogul and the Post Office in Leiters Ford.  Paramount to Becky was being a wonderful mother and a devoted farmer's wife.  This lady of diverse interests and talents  was totally immersed in the family dairy farming operation.  She assisted Clifford with overseeing a fine herd of Jersey cows and the milking.  They also raised hogs, sheep, ducks and geese.
At home from her kitchen command post Becky loved cooking and preparations for the holiday meals and special family celebrations.  She enjoyed baking cakes and pies.  In demand were her strawberry-rhubarb and lemon meringue pies, as noted, "They were the BEST!"  She was an accomplished seamstress and kept the yard and gardens manicured in meticulous condition.  In more recent years she looked forward to the visits of her grandchildren the great-grandchildren, making her days complete.
Becky annually oversaw the planting of a huge truck patch garden, of course maintained it and headed the collection of the bountiful harvest each autumn.  From that point she froze and canned the delicious produce to share and use with her family during the winter.  Even though this vibrant lady kept very busy, she ALWAYS had time to help her friends, family and neighbors.  Becky was a faithful member of the Leiters Ford United Methodist Church and was also a member of the WSCS.

Left to cherish Becky's memory are a daughter, Nancy Reinholt and husband Dennis; a son, Dennis Reichard and wife Cindy all of Rochester; three grandchildren: Ashley M. Gibbons and husband Austin,  Rex Reinholt and wife Alison, Tom Reinholt and wife Jill;  seven  great grandchildren: Jordan and Trenton Reinholt, Trevor, Abigail and Benjamin Reinholt and twins Madelyn and Lillian Gibbons; a sister: Marie Mittica and husband Dom of Logansport; a sister-in-law, Betty McManus, of Logansport; and several nieces and nephews.

Preceding Becky  in death are her parents, beloved husband Clifford on August 13, 2003,  and eight McManus siblings: Merle, Francis, Lova, Walter, Dennis, Wayne, Dale and Rayburn "Mike".

A public graveside for Rebecca Reichard will be at 3:00 PM on Saturday, August 26 , 2017 at the Moon Cemetery.
