Raymond Edwin Hektor, 70, 1319 Monroe St., was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 2:50 p.m. Saturday at his home. He was born in Bruce Lake Station on Feb. 12, 1940, to Edwin R. and Agnes L. (Zartman) Hektor, and had lived most of his life in Fulton County. On Feb. 1, 1975, Ray and Ramona Thomas were married in Warsaw. They were looking forward to their 36th anniversary on Tuesday. Ray retired in 2002 from Lear Corporation, where he was a forklift driver. He had also worked at Black Oxide., both of Bourbon, for a number of years. As a young man, Ray attended the St. Joseph Catholic Church, Rochester. Embracing nature and the outdoors fishing and camping with his family were among his favorite ways to relax. His interest in Indian heritage and history took him to annual visits to the Trail of Courage and Red Bud Trail along the shores of the Tippecanoe River. On the road his handle was "Red Rooster" to all of his CB buddies. Ray is lovingly remembered by his wife, Ramona Lang-Hektor, at home; two daughters, Kimberly Balsley and husband Tony, Tippecanoe, and Kandi Hektor-Fritter, Argos; son Randy Hektor and wife Michelle, Mentone; three sisters, Bonnie Mosley, Ark., Sharon Hektor, Mich., and Patricia Mosley and husband William of Ark.; brother Joseph Hektor and wife Bertha, Miss.; eight grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and infant brother Phillip Michael Hektor and an infant son Kevin Joseph Hektor. A celebration of the life of Raymond E. Hektor is at 10 a.m. Thursday in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with the Rev. Jason See officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment is in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Military graveside rites will be conducted by the LeRoy Shelton American Legion No. 36 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 1343, both of Rochester.
