Surrounded by his loving family, Mr. Raymond Charles Duzan, 70, of Rochester passed away at 1:30 AM, exactly 70 years from his date of birth, April 15, 2014 at his home. On April 15, 1944, Ray was born in Hammond the treasured son of Joseph Charles and Blanche F. Raby Duzan. As one of five children, growing up he shared his childhood with two sisters Dixie and Sue and two brothers Bob and Jerry. A Talma Tiger, Ray graduated with his class from Talma High School in 1962. Later he enlisted with the United States Army and served our country during the years of the Vietnam War. He was stationed in Korea for four years and was a part of the missions to Vietnam. In Talma, Ray married the love of his life, Michele D. English, on May 30, 1983. Together they enjoyed more than three decades of life's adventures. Possessing a vast arsenal of skills, Ray was chief mechanic at Rochester's "Ford garage." He also had a mechanic's work bay in his home garage. Ray loved agriculture and worked for a number of years at Nelson Farms near Burket. A former Fulton County Sherriff's Reserve, Ray answered the dispatchers and fellow officers as 25 - 19, for over ten years from 1991 - 2001. He served Kewanna as their law enforcement officer from 1991 - 1992. Ray's current memberships include F.O.P., Manitou V.F.W. # 1343 where he was elected as officer, trustee for a three year term. As an American sportsman, Ray taught Rod hunting techniques for deer, water fowl around area farm fields. There were annual trips to Bay City, MI for goose hunting. Michele and Ray enjoyed fishing the pristine waters of Lake Ann near Interlocken, MI where they many times caught the limit of blue gill and bass. A camper of primitive distinction, the only light allowed was the campfire or the summer starlit skies. There was absolutely no modern conveniences tolerated. With an intrigue for speed, Ray loved catching the action on the drag strips at Bunker Hills and Kokomo. Dominant speed and power, Ford engines were always a common denominator. Left to cherish Ray's memory are his loving wife Michele; 3 daughters: Charity Davis and husband Joe of Warsaw, Lorrae Duzan of Rochester, Cami English-Davidson and husband Jack of South Bend; 2 sons: Rodney Duzan, of Warsaw, Parris English and wife Maria of Camarillo, CA; 19 grandchildren; and 4 great grandchildren; two sisters: Dixie Curtis and husband Gene of Cedar Lake, and Sue Henry and husband Larry of Columbus, OH. Preceding Ray in death are his parents and 2 brothers: Robert H. Duzan and Jerry Duzan. Military Rites will be conducted by the Fulton County Honor Guard and the US Army Honor Guard.
