Mrs. Ramona M.  Crispen,   79,  of Macy was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 2:25 P.M., Saturday, August 19 , 2017 at her home.

In LaCrosse, Wisconsin, on August 28 , 1937 Ramona Mae Phillips was born.  She was the cherished daughter of William and Ruby Burns Phillips. Growing up she shared her childhood with a sister and three brothers.  Her love for the water began when she learned to swim as a youngster in the Mississippi River.    Ramona graduated in 1955 from LaCrosse Central High School.

On April 21 , 1956, also in LaCrosse, Ramona married the love of her life, Mr. Fredrick Dean Crispen.  Together they shared 48 years of life's adventures.  From their union came two daughters and three sons.  The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of 14 grandchildren and 42 great-grandchildren.

During the early years, Ramona worked at the W.C. Redmon Basket Company in Peru. She later worked at Hart-Schaffner-Marx until the company closed their Rochester  business.  Her most memorable and favorite job was as a member of housekeeping at Woodlawn Hospital.  She enjoyed getting acquainted with patients and staff while keeping the rooms spotless. It wasn't long ago that she sold garden fresh produce at a roadside stand near her home.

Paramount in Grandma Ramona's eyes were her grandchildren and later the great-grands when they came along.  Each spring she found great joy with planting flower gardens to enhance her landscape and beauty of her home.  At home she also enjoyed the company of her canines Tootsie and Teddy, also known as Theodore or "Teddy Bear," the cream colored Yorkies, and her grand-dog Einstein, a custom lab-shepherd-huskie blend. Ramona was also owned by two feline companions: Shadow, the butterscotch colored Siamese, and Sugar, the domestic gray and white long haired cat.  Her mantra was pets were companions made to be spoiled and she always spoon fed them for their breakfast and dinner meals.

With a lifelong love for water and swimming Ramona enjoyed cooling down in the sparkling waters of Nyona Lake.  She enjoyed swimming from the beach across the lake and back.  To relax she enjoyed keeping up with the soaps on television, especially,  "Days of Our lives."  Ramona also was a frequent viewer of the shows of Dr. David Jeremiah.  Reading her Bible each day was a part of her routine. Watching the intriguing and  beautiful ruby throated hummingbirds  provided  joyous moments, getting close to nature during the summer months.

Left to cherish Ramona's memory are two daughters: Louise Kaiser and husband William "Bill,"  Judy Jones and husband Kenny all of Macy;  three sons; Steven Crispen of Rochester, Rodney Crispen of Akron and Michael Crispen of Logansport;  14 grandchildren; 42 grandchildren with another on the way; a brother, Ronald Phillips and wife Donna Mae of Lacrosse, WI; a special friend and Bible buddy, Marilyn Peter, of Rochester; the nurses and aides from Guardian Angel; and several nieces and nephews.  Preceding her in death are her beloved husband Fredrick in 2004; her parents; a siste,r Donna Mae Grimes;  two brothers: Donald Phillips and Jimmy Frauenkron; and  her canine "Baby Shablue 1st of Dozer," a Keeshond.

A celebration of the life of Mrs. Ramona M, Crispen will be at 6:30 pm Wednesday, August 23 , 2017 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester.  Friends may visit with her family from 4:00 until the time of the service.   A private family burial will be at a later date in the Fulton Cemetery.   Memorials may be made to the donors choice.
