Phyllis Lucy Scobie Hardy, 94, of Rochester, passed away at 12:47 PM on March 11, 2014 at Woodlawn Hospital of Rochester. On September 3, 1919, Phyllis was born to George and Muriel Osborne Lilly in Detroit, MI Phyllis and Eldon Everett Scobie were married on December 4, 1937 in Ferndale, MI. He passed away on December 20, 1973. Their union of 36 years produced a beautiful daughter and 3 handsome sons. Two more generations have been added to the family tree. On Valentines Day in 1976, Phyllis married Alvin Hardy. He preceded her in death in 1986. Phyllis supervised and was the head cook at Kimball School of Royal Oak, MI for many years. She attended the Trinity United Methodist Church of Rochester. Phyllis is lovingly remembered by a daughter Donna Ackerman and husband William of Utica, MI; three sons: Walter Edward Scobie and wife Sharon of Rochester, Everett Eldon Scobie of Sterling Heights, MI, and John Scott Scobie and wife Cathy of Ray Township, MI; 10 grandchildren: Laura Riggs, Tamora Howard, Walter "Todd" Scobie, David Ackerman, Herbert Ackerman, Linda Flykt, Nikki Martin, Mark Scobie, Adrianna Chamberlain, Jacob Scobie; and 19 great grandchildren. Preceding Phyllis in death are her parents and husband. Local visitation with family and friends will be from 5-7 PM on Thursday, March 13th in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester. A celebration of the life of Phyllis Lucy Scobie Hardy will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 15th in the Kinsey Garrett Funeral Home, 420 South Lafayette Avenue, Royal Oak, MI. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 PM on Friday, March 14th and one hour prior to the service at the Kinsey Garrett Funeral Home. Interment will be in the Roseland Park Cemetery, Royal Oak, MI.
