Obituary

Phyllis "Jean" Duzan, 87,  of  Warsaw was surrounded by her loving family when she  passed  away at 8:20 PM on Wednesday, May 8 , 2019 at Kosciusko County Hospital.

On September 11 , 1931, Phyllis Jean Holloway was born in Rochester.  She was a treasured daughter of Lee and Lillie Mikesell Holloway. Growing up  as the ninth of twelve children she shared her childhood with seven sisters and four brothers.   With great pride she graduated from Rochester High School in 1951.

In Rochester, on June 17 , 1951,   Jean married the love of her life, Mr. Robert H. Duzan.  They shared 37 years of life's adventures.  From their union came four wonderful children Debra, Dona, Dana and Rob.  The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Jean owned a collection of unique angels.  To keep mentally sharp she enjoyed the challenges of word searches and crossword puzzles.  To relax, Jean watched QVC, Jeopardy, Wheel of Fortune and the soaps.

As the matriarch of the Duzan family, Grandma J.  a.k.a. G.J. was proud of her legacy, the  four generations.  She was quite at home from her kitchen command post; known to her family and friends as premier creator and baker of fluffy cheesecake, steaming hot iced cinnamon rolls and homemade yeast donuts.  Grandma J. was second to none in the sweets department!  She thoughtfully sent birthday cards to all of her family.  There was nothing better than getting together for the holidays or special events making the memories of a lifetime.

Left to cherish Jean's memory are three daughters: Debra Miller of Warsaw, Dona Lowe and husband Greg, Dana Markley  all of Rochester; 7   grandchildren: Erick Miller and wife Nikki, Ashley Burrus and husband Joel, Rob Tyler, Austin Lowe, Jon Miller, Jeremy Miller, Spencer Markley;  5 great-grandchildren: Bradley Miller, Alli Jean Miller, Gabbi Miller, Jackson Burrus, Grayson Burrus: and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Jean in death are her parents Lee and Lillie Holloway; beloved husband Bob on June 19 , 1988; son 2 nd Lt. Robert H. Duzan II on May 7 , 1987; and eleven siblings: Lester, Minnie, Marjorie, Helen Maxine, Sarah, Lois, Robert, Donna, Leonard, Barbara and Charles Larry.

A celebration of the life of Phyllis Jean Duzan will be at 12 Noon on Tuesday, May 14 , 2019 in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18 th St., Rochester. Pastor Chris Beall will officiate.
