Obituary

Mr. Phillip Noel Nafziger, 67, of Rochester, passed away at 3:01 PM, Wednesday, April 18th, 2012 at Woodlawn Hospital. Phill was born in Kansas City, MO, on August 15, 1944, to Roland Wesley & Alberta Beck Nafziger. Growing up he shared his childhood with his brother Roger and two sisters, Peggy and Minta. On July 4, 1992 Phill and Roxanne Spires were married in Rockford, IL. Their adventures in life spanned nearly two decades. They enjoyed traveling to San Juan, St. Thomas and other Caribbean Islands. A connoisseur of cigars, Phill loved relaxing on the sparkling waters of Lake Manitou, floating on the pontoon while listening to the music of Jimmy Buffett. An avid golfer, Mill Creek and the Elk's courses were among his favorites. At home he enjoyed hosting poker parties with the guys. Grillin' out smoked brisket while providing all of the trimmings was another great gesture of hospitality. A loyal and devoted employee of AIRVAC, he served in the capacity of environmental manager until his retirement in January of 2012. Phill served on the Fulton County Parks Board. He was a member of the Eagles, Moose and Elks Fraternal Lodges, serving as trustee on the Elks board for many years. Phill will be lovingly remembered by his wife Roxanne, at home; a son, Roger Nafziger and companion Laurie Hale of Prosper, TX; and a brother, Roger Nafziger & wife Nancy of Tombal, TX. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters, Minta and Peggy. A celebration of the life of Phillip N. Nafziger will be from 1-4 PM on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at Alejandra's, 2077 Main St., Rochester. This will be a time for family and friends to share their memories of Phill. Each year Phill and Roxanne made holiday cookies and created treat bags for the kids to enjoy following their Christmas shopping experience with a cop. To honor Phill's memory, Roxanne and Roger ask that memorial's in lieu of flowers be made to Shop with a Cop.
