Obituary

Mr. Paul Wesley Scott, 93, of Rochester passed away at 8:54 PM, Thursday, January 10th, 2013 at Life Care Center of Rochester. Paul was born in Fulton County on August 22, 1919, the cherished son of Vernon F. and Anna B. Sherrard Scott. Growing up in Richland Township, he shared his childhood with two sisters, Rosemary and Marjorie, and a brother Basil. As a proud Wildcat, Paul graduated from Richland Center High School with his class in 1937. On June 28, 1940, Paul married his best friend, Marietta Green, in Koontz Lake. Together they shared 72 1/2 years of life's adventures. Born from their union was a son Paul Eugene and a daughter Pamela Sue, who passed away at the age of 11 from complications of Cystic Fibrosis. The family tree grew over the years with the added blessings of two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. For a number of years Paul served Morton Buildings as office manager and sales rep from the Wabash offices. He and Marietta were life members of the Tiosa Brethren Church. Most recently they attended the Riverview Community Church. Accomplished in the art of woodworking, Paul made many custom creations for the family. Some of the most treasured are shadow boxes, bowls, figurines and a unique plate that integrated three species of wood. Until recent years, he was meticulous with his lawn care. For many years, he and Marietta enjoyed planting a huge garden and harvesting the bounty so their family could enjoy produce year round. Paul is lovingly remembered by his wife Marietta; a son Gene Scott of Plainfield; 2 grandchildren: Brian Scott and Brandy Saylor; 5 great grandchildren: Lauren, Kelsey & Carly Scott, Danni and Dayne Saylor; a sister Rosemary DePue and husband John of Argos; and several nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Pamela Sue Scott, a sister Marjorie Umbaugh, and a brother Basil Scott. Pastor Rod Ruberg will officiate services. Interment will be at the Reichter Cemetery.
