Obituary

Patricia A. "Pat"  Ginther, 82, of Rochester passed away at 1:11 PM on Friday, May 13 , 2016, at Hickory Creek of Rochester.

On November 22 , 1934, Patricia was born in Indianapolis.  She was a cherished daughter of   Adolf Henry  and Lillian Johnston Vieth.  Growing up she shared her childhood with two sisters and a brother.

Pat and Robert LeRoy Ginther were married on June 13 , 1970 in Rochester.  Together they shared 23 years of life's adventures.  Sadly he passed away on February 3 , 1993.

For the past thirty-three years Pat has been a resident at Hickory Creek.  She loved engaging in the many activities they offered.   Among her favorite was Wii Bowling. She made many new friends during her tenure and was designated as a key member of the quality control team, as the staff of Hickory Creek were like her extended family.

A nature lover, Pat  enjoyed bird watching, She had a variety of bird feeders by her window.   She sat and observed the birds then told many stories about what the birds and the pesky squirrels were up to. She had many of the staff at Hickory Creek keep those bird feeders full of food. She truly enjoyed watching the birds.

An avid walker, Pat was seen often walking to Krogers, Walmart, Dairy Queen, Burger King, and just around town. She had 2 knee replacements to allow her to continue on with her walking. Often, passer bys would stop to offer her a ride, not knowing that she was just out for her daily walk.  When weather was bad, she would  walk inside the nursing home, making her laps around the indoor square to complete her miles. The exercise of walking over the years certainly  added to her longevity.

As an avid reader, Pat was thoroughly modern keeping up with the cutting edge of technology.  She readily learned to use a Kindle to read all of her favorite books.

Known for her extraordinary sense of humor, Pat was  "contrary" and a bit of a "prankster" because she loved to laugh, and have fun with those around her.  Pat was filled with love, and shared her love with so many friends and staff and Hickory Creek. She was a mom  and grandma to many.

Left to cherish Pat's memory are a daughter, Gail McGuffey of Rohnerta Park, CA;  a son, Greg McGuffey and wife Marcia of Indianapolis; 2 grandchildren: Deanne Smoot and husband Chris and Greg McGuffey III; 4 great grandchildren; a sister, Myrtle Mae Vieth Walker of Albuquerque NM; blended family Beverly Ullery, and David Ginther and wife Cathy, all of Rochester;  and her loving family at Hickory Creek.

Preceding Pat in death are her parents, husband Bob, a sister,  Norma  Jean Deboulle Palmer, and a brother, Clarence "Bus" Tilden Deboulle.

Pat's family want to thank the staff of Hickory Creek for the tender loving care expressed to their mother during her stay of more than three decades.  She loved you as family too.

Interment will be in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
