Mrs. Orpha Hilda Lough went to be with the Lord at the wonderful age of 97. She was an amazing mother and grandmother and will be greatly missed by all. She passed away quietly December 1st, 5:55 pm at Woodlawn Hospital. She brightened many lives as a lifetime resident of Fulton County with the exception of two years spent in Marshall County. Orpha was born in Richland Township on April 9, 1915 to Paul and Clara Wilfert Gansch. Growing up she attended Richland Center School, sharing her childhood with two sisters, Anna and Martha. She married her best friend who became her lifelong mate, Greshem F. Lough on a beautiful Christmas Eve in 1932. During their wonderful 45 years of marriage, Greshem and Orpha had one son and three daughters. Their legacy continued and blessed them with 8 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren. Through the years she and Greshem owned and operated the Richland Center Store for 3 years and the Tiosa Elevator for 8 years. In recent years she enjoyed cheerfully volunteering at the Fulton County Museum and helping out at church suppers. Orpha was a loyal and devoted member of the Richland Center United Methodist Church since her childhood. She was also a member of the United Methodist Women. For over a decade she was a member of the Rebekahs Lodge. An extraordinary cook and baker, Orpha was a member of the Columbia School and Rochester High School cafeteria staff for a number of years. At home, her kitchen was the hub of family gatherings as she created custom meals for birthdays, the holidays and other special family celebrations. Always in demand were the weekend treats-- piping hot cinnamon rolls fresh from her oven or a variety of donuts. She is also remembered for her cookies, chocolate layer dessert, pies and cakes. With uncanny artistic talent, Orpha expressed herself on canvas using oils as her medium. She also enjoyed photography, stamping sweatshirts, ceramics and crocheting afghans and other gifts of warmth for family and special friends. She is survived by her devoted daughters Betty Jean Myers (Lake Havasu City, AZ), Patricia Ann Rogers and husband William (Phoenix, AZ), caring and attentive daughter-in-law Ann Lough (Culver, IN), wonderful son-in-law Phillip Alber (Fort Wayne, IN), 7 grandchildren and many great grandchildren. Those welcoming her home to heaven are her husband Greshem Lough (1978), son Greshem "Monty" Lough (1997), grandchild Todd Alber (2011), daughter Marilyn Alber (2012), sisters Anna Horgesheimer and Martha Gansch. Pastor Don Nunemaker will officiate services. She will be laid to eternal rest next to her beloved husband Greshem in the Richland Center IOOF Cemetery.
