Obituary

Mrs. Nikki Lynne Foster Powell, 69, of Rochester, passed away at 4:25 PM, Wednesday, March 27th, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Central, Lafayette. Born in Rochester on January 10, 1944, Nikki Lynne was the daughter of Joseph and Evelyn McKee Foster. Growing up she shared her childhood with a sister Shari and a brother Joseph. In 1962, with great Zebra pride, she graduated from Rochester High School. On January 25, 2002, Nikki and Jonathon L. Powell were married in Indianapolis. Prior to this, the couple were best friends for more than 18 years, sharing the best of life for nearly three decades. Traveling to Ireland provided many great memories. She and Jon also enjoyed the thrill of drag racing. Her favorite strips were in Joliet and Indianapolis. Reading was a source of relaxation with suspense and thrillers being her favorite topics. Nikki, a die-hard Cub fan, was also loyal to Notre Dame's Fighting Irish, the Indy Colts and Tiger Woods on the putting green. She enjoyed observing nature in action, watching and feeding the domestic backyard birds, especially her friend the Ruby-throated hummingbird. The matriarch overseeing 3 generations, Nikki truly cherished the time she spent with her grandchildren. Spring break with her family meant making memories in the warmth of the sunshine on the beach with sand and surf. Nikki is lovingly remembered by her husband Jon; 2 daughters: Michelle Morgan and Leslee Goss and husband Glenn; a sister, Shari Hartzler and husband Jim, all of Rochester; 5 Grandchildren: Damon Myers, Gryphen Goss, Bailey Quick, Makenna Morgan and Brady Morgan; a niece, Jaymi Hartzler; and 2 nephews: Joseph Foster and Jonathon Foster; and 3 great nieces and nephews who also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, and a brother Joseph Foster in 1989. Dr. Mark Spencer will officiate services.
