Nancy C. Bearss' Obituary
?Nancy Cora Bearss, of Rochester, In, left this life for her eternal home on October 31, 2018, after blessing us for 85 years.
She was born to Howard Rusk (H.R.) Long, and Margaret H. Carney Long in Fort Smith, Arkansas on June 17, 1933.
They, along with her younger brother, Joe, preceded her in death.
Together, they moved from Arkansas and she spent most of her childhood years in Missouri before moving to Rochester the summer before her junior year in high school. It was that same year that she began dating Wendell Bearss, whom she would marry. Nancy and Wendell were married from 1951-1975 and together had 6 children - Patty (Bill) Nicholson of Rochester, Susie (Ricky) Martin of Austin, TX, Tom Bearss of Rochester, Dan (Peggy) Bearss of Walkarusa, Jane (Jim) Fesenmeier of Indianapolis, and Judith Bearss of Rochester - along with 9 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
In 1975, Nancy moved to Naples, Florida where she and her family made beautiful memories walking the beach and looking for seashells.
In 1990, at the age of 57, Nancy graduated college as LPN and began a new career working in the OB department in the Naples Hospital.
In 1997, Nancy moved back to Rochester. She worked for the Fulton County Health Department and Life Care Center. After retiring from Life Care, Nancy volunteered at Columbia school where she enjoyed supporting teachers and helping the children learn.
Nancy was a vibrant and joy-filled person with an adventurous spirit and an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. She will be remembered fondly as a woman of great faith, who loved her family unconditionally, and had a special gift for making others feel special and valued.
She loved Jesus, her family and friends, gardening, finding seashells on the beach, hot coffee, red lipstick, and her little dog, Lucy.
Her family welcomes you to remember Nancy & celebrate her life. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 4-7 PM and an hour prior to her service. Nancy's life celebration will be at 10:00 AM Thursday, November 8th in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester. Chaplain David Crowley will officiate. Memorial contributions in Nancy's honor may be given to the following: The Marian Dyer Literacy Fund or the Fulton County Cancer Fund, both thru the Northern Indiana Community Foundation, 227 East 9th Street, Rochester, Indiana 46975.
