Matthew R. Crall, 35, 520 W. Ninth St., went to be with his Heavenly Father at 2:48 p.m. Thursday with his family at his bedside at the Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis, where he had been a patient for 10 days. He was born on May 1, 1975, in Logansport, to Richard and Barbara (Kurz) Crall. He graduated from Rochester High School in 1994. Matt was an avid collector of Star Wars memorabilia. He could name every creature they made. Crazy eights was played with strategy, and he could beat anyone as the rest "just played cards." The last 11 years Matt crafted latch hook rugs and gave them to friends and his doctors. Puzzle books kept Matt busy during the day. Every time he went somewhere, Matt wanted a new puzzle book. His ability to find the hidden words in the books belied the fact that the disease he had impaired the brains ability to function. Matt loved his family and they were all very close. He was his grandmother's "right hand man" after his grandfather Bill Kurz died. Matt is survived by his parents, Richard and Barbara Crall, Rochester; two brothers, Kevin Crall and wife Richelle, Fort Wayne, and Nathan Crall, Rochester; niece Trisha Moore; nephew Zachary Moore; uncle Keith Kurz and wife Kathy, Rochester, N.Y.; two aunts, Kay Bieganski and husband Dave, Cowlesville, N.Y., and Susie Helser and husband Laddie, Warsaw; great-aunt Norma Starr, Rochester; great-uncle Ed Kurz and wife Vonnie, Denver, Colo.; and canine companions Shiloh and Brownie. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bill and Dorothy Kurz, and Estel and Catherine Crall; and two aunts, Barb Claxton and Ann Benzing. A celebration of the life of Matthew Crall is at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, with Chaplain Jason See officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and one hour prior to the service in the funeral home. Interment is at Rochester IOOF Cemetery Rochester.
