Mrs. Mary E. Simmons, 91, of Fulton passed away at 11:56 PM,

, 2016 at Century Villa Healthcare of Greentown.

, 1924, in Rensselaer, Mary was born. She was the cherished daughter of John and Louella Montgomery Sowers. In 1943 she graduated from Sidney High School.
In Syracuse, on
July 31
, 1943, Mary and Warren W. Simmons were married. Together they shared nearly 70 years of life's adventures. From their union came seven wonderful children. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of two more generations. This was a life legacy of more than fifty.
The last two weeks of September brought on Warren and Mary's annual fishing trip to Wisconsin
. This allowed them time to relax and to haul in the limit. She cheered for the Chicago Cubs, and listened to oldie country music, Lawrence Welk and Big Joe Polka.
Grandma Mary was proud to oversee four generations. From her kitchen command post she is remembered for her steaming hot beef and noodles. She was an accomplished with handiwork and quilted, sewed and crocheted many projects. She and Warren annually planted a truck patch garden. Each fall the froze and canned the bountiful harvest to share with their family for winter's use.
Left to cherish Mary's memory are four daughters: Judy Reed and husband Kenny of Kewanna, Sharon Bowman of Fulton, Debbie Sheets and husband Ron of Twelve Mile, Patti Donahue and husband John of Charleston, SC; two sons: Jerry Simmons of Michigan City, and Ron Simmons and wife Teresa of Topeka, KS; 19 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding Mary in death are her parents, beloved husband Warren
March 31
, 2013; infant son Richard Dale Simmons; and a great grandson, Junior Buswell.
Pastor Bruce Russell will officiate services. Interment will be in the South Whitley Cemetery.
