Mary Lou Shively, 84, formerly of Akron, passed away on January 3 , 2021 at the Indiana University Hospital-Arnett of Lafayette.  This followed a valiant three week battle with COVID-19.

On April 15 , 1936, Mary Lou Grizzle was born in Lampasas, Texas.  She was a treasured daughter of Wyle and Stella Ellason Grizzle.  She graduated from Lampasas High School.

Mary Lou and Joseph P. Shively were married on October 23 , 1980, in Lampasas; and afterward Mary Lou relocated to the Shively homestead in Fulton County. The Shively's have shared 40 years of life's adventures.

As a homemaker, Mary Lou cherished family time on the farm.  In her free time she enjoyed time with her granddaughter, reading the Bible and Reader's Digest Condensed Books, and listening to music. Gospel, Classical, and Christmas music with a special blend of Johnny Cash & Don Williams were always enjoyed. The last several years, Mary Lou resided at the Indiana Veterans' Home, in West Lafayette; where she enjoyed many wonderful friends.

Left to cherish Mary Lou's memory are her husband, Joe; two step-daughters: Tammy Shively, and Cindy Foerg and husband Don all of Rochester; and a granddaughter, Casey Shively of Spencer.

Preceding Mary Lou in death are her parents, two sisters, Wilma Jean Thompson, Martha Jo Grizzle and a brother Wyley Grizzle.

A private family service will be held for Mary Lou. Interment will be in the Athens Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the Fulton County Animal Shelter, 1540 Wentzel St., Rochester, IN 46975 .
