We are observing Governor Holcomb's executive order requiring face coverings. For your protection, the entire funeral home staff continue to wear masks. Mary Kathryn Hopkins, 79, formerly of Rochester, passed away Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Aurora Memorial Hospital, Burlington, Wisconsin.

In Decatur, IL on August 11, 1940, Mary was born.  She was a treasured daughter  of Elmer and Louise Sanders Waltz. Growing up as one of  eleven Waltz kids she shared her childhood with three sisters and seven brothers.  In 1958 she graduated from Cerro Gordo High School in Cerro Gordo, IL.

After graduation, Mary answered the call of patriotism and joined the United States Air Force, to serve our country.  As an administrative clerk, she was honorably discharged in 1960 from the Scott Air Force Base in St. Clair County Illinois..

Coming from Decatur, IL,  Fulton County had been Mary's home since 1962. She was a dedicated member of the Ramsey Building Service for 28 years, serving as  their office manager. She was a member of the Manitou Veterans of Foreign Wars Post  # 1343 of Rochester.

Mary is lovingly remembered by a daughter, Pamela Lanting and husband Richard  of East Troy, WI;  a son, David Hopkins, of Warsaw; four grandchildren: Allison Ade and husband Eric, Greg Lanting and wife Krystal, Lisa Lanting, Reannon Reed and husband Hunter; five great-grandchildren: Renner and Ellody Ade, Jayce, Greyson and Ashler Lanting.  Mary is also remembered by her loving Arbor View Community Family,  the caregivers and residents.

Preceding Mary in death are her parents Elmer and Louise Waltz; companion, James C. Ramsey; three sisters: Marge, Betty and Dorothy; and seven Waltz brothers: Bill, Bob, Jack, Dick, Joe, Fred and Jim.

Mary's family wish to thank Arbor View Communities staff for their love, friendship and compassionate care they conveyed to their mother during her years there, making her quality of life the best it could be.

A celebration of the life of Mary K. Hopkins will be at 5:00 pm EST on Saturday, September 26 , 2020 at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester.  Chaplain Todd Wilson will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 - 5:00 PM EST.   Military Honors will be accorded by the Fulton County Veteran's Honor Guard and the US Air Force Honors Team.
