Mrs. Marjorie J. Rhodes, 83, Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 11:12 AM, Monday,April 23rd, 2012 at her home. She was born on July 22, 1928 in Rochester the precious daughter of Maurice and Mildred Clay Newman. A life long Fulton County resident, Marjorie graduated with great pride from Rochester High School with her class in 1946. On March 14, 1947, Marjorie and Thomas A. Rhodes were married in Logansport. Their marriage of over 53 years produced three beautiful daughters Colleen, Marcia and Annette. The family tree flourished over the years with the additions of 9 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Marjorie and Tom enjoyed many good times together. The summertime brought many fish tales resulting from fishing expeditions. From the sparkling waters of Lake Manitou and other lakes around northern Indiana to the quiet and serene waters of Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan--Tom and Marjorie enjoyed dropping the line and relaxed being up close and personal with nature's natural beauty. Winter brought on another sport to enjoy--snowmobiling. They traveled to all three states mentioned and Indiana to blaze trails while catching the breeze on their snowmobiles. At home Marjorie relaxed with a book in hand. A proud owner of a vast library of books, she kept mentally sharp and on the cutting edge with the books she read. A friend to the domestic animals of our backyards, Marjorie fed the squirrels and birds and was entertained by observing their behaviors. She loved the music of Rod Stewart, Barry Manilow and Elvis. As matriarch of the family overseeing four generations looked forward to family celebrations, birthdays and the holidays. Her kitchen was the hub of all the activities. Her specialty dishes and most requested are fried chicken, coleslaw and oyster dressing. With Marjorie, family was number one and she was always there to support them and love them with ever opportunity she could capture. Marjorie is lovingly remembered by her 3 daughters, Colleen Wagoner & husband Richard of Rochester, Marcia Heishman of Lafayette, Annette Fenstermaker & husband Don of Rochester, 9 grandchildren, Dustin Heishman, Trish Collins & husband Tony, Richard Wagoner & wife Shelly, Stacy Wagoner & wife Heather, Taylor Fenstermaker, Matthew Zehner & fiance Brittany Bailey, Josh Zehner & wife Candace, Kylee Fenstermaker, Caleb Fenstermaker, and 16 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Thomas on November 3, 2000, a great-grandson Kaleb Thomas Wagoner Pastor Terry Baldwin will officiate services. Marjorie will be laid to eternally rest next to her beloved husband Tom in the Rochester IOOF Cemetery Rochester.
