Marion "Denzel" Price, 97, 400 W. Fourth St., was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away Saturday at 4:26 a.m. at home. He was born Dec. 27, 1913, to Earl and Ruth (Huffman) Price in Lynn. He married Ruth Ann Fudge on Sept. 10, 1933, at Lynn Friend's Church by the Rev. C. Pearson. In 1932 he graduated from Lynn High School. A proud patriot, Marion was a veteran of World War II serving with the U.S. Navy Sea Bees SC1C. He served as the ship's cook on LST 229 and was honorably discharged on Dec. 6, 1945. Marion lived a long and colorful life working his first job at a grocery store in Lynn. He then traveled about with his wife Ruth managing Grey Hound Post houses. After that he was a food manager for Szabo Food Service working in hotels, Chrysler Transmission Plant, Kokomo, and various hospitals ending his career at Woodlawn Hospital, Rochester. He was a member of AARP, RSVP, and St. John Lutheran Church. Denzel and wife Ruth enjoyed wintering in Weslaco, Texas, traveling the U.S. visiting all 50 states. They also enjoyed participation of the RSVP Senior Games in their retirement years. Most of all Denzel enjoyed being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, the other loves of his life. Marion is lovingly remembered by his son, Dennis Price and wife Junette; three grandchildren, Gail (Pete) Karas, Lesley Krisher, and Jason Price, all of Rochester; three great-grandchildren, Joshua Norman-Price, Akron, Aubrey Price, and Austin Krisher, both of Rochester; brother Ret. Maj. Robert Price and wife Katie, El Cajon, Calif.; and countless nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were his parents; wife Ruth; three brothers, Morris, Donald, and James Price; and a set of twin siblings. A celebration of the life of Mr. Marion "Denzel" Price is at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church, Jefferson and Fourth streets, Rochester, with the Rev. James Wasmuth officiating. Friends may visit with his family from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W 18th St., Rochester, and one hour prior to services at the church. He will be laid to eternal rest next to his beloved wife Ruth at Willow Creek Cemetery near Fountain City. Preferred memorials may be made to Shop with a Cop or Hope Hospice of Fulton County.
