Mrs. Margaret E. Jones, 83, of Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 12:25 AM, Friday, August 16th, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne. Born in Glasgow, KY on June 15, 1930, Margaret Elizabeth Word was the precious daughter of James and Ova Bunch Word. Growing up as one of four children, she shared her childhood with a sister Christine and two brothers Bill and Jim. In May of 1948, with great pride, Margaret earned the distinction of being named valedictorian of her graduation class at Jackson Township High School near Frankfort, IN. On May 28, 1949 in Frankfort, Margaret E. Word married the love of her life Mr. Kenneth C. Jones, who soon became her best friend. Together they shared life's adventures for over 38 years while raising three wonderful children Nancy, Janet and Joe. The family tree continued to grow with the added blessings of eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Margaret was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church for more than a half century. She was a skilled legal secretary serving in several law offices in Rochester over the years. A competitive card player, she also enjoyed the game of bridge-a-rama. An accomplished pianist, Margaret played for her personal enjoyment. Gardening was another forte' as she annually planted flower gardens that enhanced the landscape of her home. Each spring brought on the planting of the vegetable garden with a bountiful harvest for the family to enjoy. As outdoorsmen, Margaret and Kenny enjoyed taking the family camping. Many memories were made sitting around the campfire under the starlit summer skies. An avid angler she could be seen casting over the sparkling waters of Nyona Lake with Kenny at her side. The two also enjoyed fishing for salmon in northwest Indiana. They also enjoyed many fishing expeditions to Lake Michigan. More recently she visited some of the lakes, near Seymour, with her son Joe's family. Margaret is lovingly remembered by two daughters: Nancy Baker and husband Ted of Warsaw, and their children Erica Potter and husband Gerald of Waterford, MI, Jaime Snyder and fiancé Jason Ladd of Warsaw, Heather Stockman and husband Nate of Warsaw and their children Isaiah and Jaycie; Janet Los and husband Chet, and their children Chet Los Jr. and wife Eleacia, Chelsea Los, Chandler Los all of Syracuse; a son, Joseph Jones and wife Ronda and their sons Kurt Jones, Brett Jones all of Seymour; brother and sister-in-laws Jerry T. Jones, James E. Jones, Jerine Brittain and Mary Pawloske. Preceding Margaret in death were her parents, and husband Kenny on February 24, 1988, a sister Christine Buttrey, and 2 brothers: Jim Word and Bill Edwards. She will be laid to eternal rest next to her beloved husband Kenny at Rochester IOOF Cemetery.
