Mr. Lowell E. Grossman, 83, of 15990 South Nutmeg Road, Plymouth, was surrounded by his loving family when he passed away at 4:15 AM, Monday, June 6th, 2011 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center of Plymouth. He was born in Argos, on November 13, 1927, to Lott and Corine Hagenbush Grossman. Lowell was one of 11 children sharing his childhood with six brothers and 4 sisters. He graduated from Argos High School in 1945 and furthered his education at Purdue University. On July 2, 1950, he married the love of his life and best friend Bonnie Scarbourgh, in Knox. Their union of nearly 61 years produced a daughter Judith Ann and two sons Terry Michael and James Lowell. Over the years the family tree grew with the additions of 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. A lifetime resident of Marshall County Lowell enjoyed farming. He grew soybeans and corn. Early in his career he owned a fine herd of Holsteins. Later he transitioned exclusively to beef, custom crossbreds were his choice of cattle. He also worked as a roofer. Lowell was a loyal member of the Argos United Methodist Church. As an armchair athlete he cheered for the Purdue men's basketball team. Lowell will be lovingly remembered by his wife, Bonnie, at home, a daughter, Judith Ann Weiss & husband Eric of Simpsonville, K 2 sons,Terry Michael Grossman & wife Susan of Claypool and James Lowell Grossman of Indianapolis, 6 grandchildren: Jason Weiss, Matthew Grossman & wife Amanda, Nathan Grossman & wife Erin, Mark, Troy, & Kendra Grossman, 4 great grandchildren: Macy, Gavin, Hailey, and Cooper, 1 sister, Leona Young of Niles, MI, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, a grandson, Joel Grossman, 3 sisters, Martha Longstreth, Virginia Bollhoefer, and Donna Loop and 6 brothers: Gerald, Dwight, Leroy, George, Richard (Dick) and Merle. A celebration of the life of Mr. Lowell E. Grossman will be at 11:00 am on Thursday, June 9 at the Argos United Methodist Church, 570 N. Michigan St., Argos with Pastor Ken Walker officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 p.m. on Wednesday, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 W. 18th St., Rochester, and one hour prior to the service in the church. He will be laid to eternally rest in the Maple Grove Cemetery of Argos. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Argos United Methodist Church.
