Obituary

Mr. Lowell Phlegar "Toad" Graham, 84, of Rochester, passed away at the home of his daughter on Tuesday, January 8th, 2013. He was born in Cass County, on January 26, 1928, to Lewis P. & Zora Snow Graham. As one of eight children he grew up with four sisters and three brothers. With great pride, Lowell graduated in 1947 from Logansport High School where he played basketball for the Berries. On July 17, 1948, Lowell and Sharon Grace Nice were married. Their union of 64 1/2 years produced 3 children. Over the years the family tree grew with the added blessings of five generations. As a young man Lowell worked for the railroad and J. C. O'Conner. He later farmed in White, LaPorte and Fulton counties, raising beans, corn and wheat. Lowell enjoyed raising a fine herd of Holsteins and overseeing the family dairy operation. He retired as a machinist from Sealed Power. As the patriarch of the Graham family, Lowell loved attending all of the scouting and sporting events of his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Playing euchre on Tuesdays with his friends gave him great pleasure. He was always looking forward to playing cards and visiting at the Senior Center. Lowell enjoyed hunting, fishing, painting, reading and poetry which he passed down through the years. Lowell is lovingly remembered by his wife Sharon; a daughter, Vicky Dugan & husband Russell of Rochester; 2 sons: Jack Graham & wife Judy of Lucerne, Tim Graham & wife Cheryl of Bainville, MT; a sister: Virginia Smith Dean of Grand Rapids MI; grandchildren: Nicole Smiley & husband Marc of Rochester, Jennifer Gamble of Rochester, Nathan Graham & wife Emily of Monticello, Emily Kim & husband John of Lompoc, CA, Kurt Graham of Lucerne, Calie Graham & fiancé Jon Wineinger of Froid, MT, Lane and Tye Graham of Bainville, MT, Jassen Dugan & wife Patti of Akron; great grandchildren: Cody Gamble & wife Keesha of Auburn, Ashley Gamble of Rochester, Lucas and Lauren Graham of Monticello, Brook Wineinger of Froid, MT, Abby Kim of Lompoc, CA, Shelbi, Shannon, and Brandon Dugan of Akron; and a great great granddaughter, Echo Gamble of Auburn. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Pluma, Saloma, & Lucy, and brothers Burman, Kenneth and Dean, along with several nieces and nephews. Interment will be in the Pro Cemetery south of Winamac.
