Due to the Fulton County Snow Emergency the celebration of the life of Lovie A. Mathias has been rescheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street. There will be a visitation an hour prior to her service. Former Akron resident, Lovie A. Mathias, 88, passed away at 3:40 a.m. on Wednesday, January 1st, 2014 at Miller's Merry Manor, Warsaw. Born in Fulton County on April 3, 1925, Lovie Aletha Bowen was the precious daughter of Edson and Lottie Bryant Bowen. Growing up she shared her childhood with two sisters, Leona and Juanita, and two brothers, Delford and Nelson. On October 17, 1954, C. Vernon Mathias and Lovie married at the Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church. Together they shared over 38 years of life's adventures until Vernon's passing on May 14, 1993. Lovie began her career at Freeman Loader in Peru. She later worked in the offices of Topps Corporation for 13 years, and concluded work at Torx Corp for 28 years. To relax she read a variety of books. Lovie enjoyed keeping up with the latest, visiting with her friends and family on the telephone. Left to cherish her memory are two nieces: Judy Robinson of husband Ed of Bonham, TX, and Sharon Fites and husband Tom of Akron; two nephews: Leroy Bowen and wife Iva of Greentown, Allen Teghtmeyer of Florence, AZ; and a half brother Nelson Bowen of Cleveland, OH. Preceding her in death are 2 sisters: Leona Walters, Juanita Teghtmeyer; a brother Delford Bowen; niece Betty Krathwohl; and nephew Alan Teghtmeyer. Pastor Wayne Balmer will officiate services. She will be laid to eternal rest in the Omega Cemetery.
