Louise "June Bug" Nicodemus, 97, formerly of Akron, passed away at 6:40 AM, Wednesday, August 17th, 2011 at Life Care Center of Rochester. She was born in Fulton County, IN on June 21, 1914, to Samuel Francis and Stella Ann Feece Nicodemus. Louise was a life time Fulton County resident. As a child she worked in the potato and onion fields. She milked cows by hand, and also had chickens, ducks , geese and pigs in the barn yard. Louise was an avid gardener, saving the seeds from her harvest to start new plants for the next season. She retired from the Olins Corporation of Mexico, making fuses for the railroad. Crocheting afghans for her family and friends was a favorite pastime. She enjoyed playing BINGO, but cards with the Russell Pratt family was always a great time. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary or Rochester. Louise will be lovingly remembered by 2 sisters, Lucile Lewis of Rochester, and Grace Edgar of Atlanta, MI; 11 nieces and nephews, Marjorie Sutton, Mary Day, LuAnn Whetstone, Betty Holloway, Charlotte Givens, Sandy Smythe, Penny Pike, Jennie DeMarco, Ellen Ellenburg, Jerry Edgar and Wayne Edgar. Several great nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 4 brothers, Max, Bob, Pete, and Ralph Nicodemus. A celebration of the life of Louise Nicodemus will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, August 23 in the Good Family Funeral Home,1200 W. 18th St. Rochester, with Pastor Dave Terhune officiating. Friends may visit with the family from 9-11 am on Tuesday in the funeral home. She will be laid to rest next to her parents in the Athens Hoover Cemetery, Athens.
