Mrs. Louise Young Gerrick, 97, of Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 8:36 AM, Friday, August 17th, 2012 at her home. Born in Fulton County on Valentine's Day in 1915, Louise was the precious daughter of Charles and Abigail Smith Young. Growing up she shared her childhood with two sisters and three brothers. Attending school in Miami County, Louise graduated with great pride from Gilead High School with her class in 1933. On February 25, 1933 Louise and Walter R. Gerrick were married in Chili. Their marriage of 53 1/2 years produced two daughters, Nancy and Audrey, and two sons, Stanley and Jerry. Louise led a very busy life as a mother and wife of a farmer. She also was the book keeper at Wilson Coal and Grain Elevator. An extraordinary baker, Louise worked at the Sale Barn during the era of the ownership of Carl Newcomb. Delivering an average of 10 pies each Saturday, they sold for 45 cents each or 15 cents per slice. Her family remembers the delicious peanut butter cookies coming fresh from the oven thru the years. To relax Louise enjoyed handiwork, especially crocheting gifts of warmth for family and special friends. An avid reader, her favorite author was LaVyrle Spencer. She was also a loyal and devoted member of the Trinity United Methodist Church. Louise is lovingly remembered by two daughters: Nancy Dudney of Tampa, FL, Audrey Henderson and husband Dan of Wimauma, FL; a son, Stanley Gerrick and wife Ann of Powder Springs, GA; 12 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren, and 9 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband Walter on November 26, 1986, a son Jerry Gerrick, a grandson Mark Pontius, two sisters: Freda and Zella, and three brothers: Floyd, David and Donald. Pastor Buck Padilla will officiate services. Interment will be in the Gilead Cemetery.
