Mrs. Lorena  B. "Lori" Vandermark, 60, of Rochester, was surrounded by her loving family when she passed away at 10:06 PM on Wednesday, October 11, 2023 at her home.

On December 20, 1962, Lori was born as Lorena Beth Weber in Wenatchee, WA.  She was a cherished daughter of Michael and Janet Law Weber. Affectionately known as Lori to those closest to her, during her early years she exhibited an adventurous spirit and loved exploring the outdoors, nature and rescuing animals.  As a little girl, with great joy,  she dressed her pet duck Henry who she nurtured and pushed around in a stroller.  Lori graduated with the Class of 1981 from Rochester High School. In pursuit of her dream to become a nurse, she continued her education at Ancilla College and earned the distinction of Registered Nurse graduating from Indiana University of Kokomo.

On July 31, 1981, Lori married her sweetheart,  Roy Allen Vandermark in The Church of Christ of Rochester.  They have shared 42 years of life's adventures. From their union came two wonderful children, a daughter Inga and a son Brent. The family tree continued to grow with the blessings of three grandchildren.

A devoted God-fearing woman, Lori was a guiding light to many in the Church of Christ in Rochester, where she shared her faith with her community.  A registered nurse, Lori dedicated over three decades of her life to working in  Obstetrics at Woodlawn Hospital Maternity Oasis. Her compassionate care left an indelible mark on countless families, as many mothers and children would fondly remember her exceptional care during their special deliveries.  Nursing was much more than just a profession; it was her passion.  Her advice was highly sought after on a wide spectrum of topics from babies, to bruises and big toes.

As the matriarch of the Vandermark family, the title of "Nana," was her most cherished.  There was great mutual admiration between Nana and the Grands!   Lori thrived during the summer months where she enjoyed gardening and sharing the bounty of the harvest with friends and family.  She reveled in the sun's warmth, teaching her grandchildren to swim in the pool.  Lori's sense of adventure found her seated behind Roy on his motorcycle, allowing them to experience the freedom of the warm summer breeze while exploring various destinations near and far. Lori's  love for travel was boundless.  She was her family's unofficial travel planner, always excitedly plotting the next expedition.

Gifted with her hands, Lori was a talented crafter and creative soul.  She frequently enlisted the help of Roy to bring her imaginative ideas to life.   Their partnership in both life and creativity was a beautiful testament to their enduring love.

Lori will be lovingly remembered by her husband, Roy; daughter Inga Omondi and husband Phelix of Rochester; son Brent Vandermark and wife Katelyn of Waterford Township, MI; father Michael Weber of Englewood, FL;  three grandchildren: Owen Omondi, Olive Omondi, Boden Vandermark; sister, Peggy Tyler of Fort Wayne; and many nieces and nephews.

Now at peace, Lori is reunited with her mother, Janet Weber, who preceded her in death.

Lori's legacy of love, compassion and her zest for life will be forever cherished by those who were fortunate enough to know her.  She leaves behind a beautiful tapestry of memories, a testament to her vibrant spirit and enduring love.

A celebration of the life of Lori Vandermark will be at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, in The Church of Christ, 120 E. 5th St., Rochester. Preacher Jim Dillinger, will officiate. Friends may visit with the family from 4-8 PM on Monday, October 16, 2023, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th St., Rochester and one hour prior to the service in the church.  Memorials may be made to The Church of Christ, 120 E. 5th St., Rochester, IN 46975.
