Obituary

Mr. Loren Lee Beatty, 84 of Rochester, passed away Tuesday, May 20th, at his residence. On September 8, 1929, Loren was born in Akron a treasured son of Ives and Louisa Schriver Beatty. Growing up he shared his childhood with a sister Phyllis and two brothers Bobby and Glenn. With great pride Loren graduated in May of 1947 from Aubeenaubee High School in Leiter's Ford. He later served our country during the Korean War and was decorated with the United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal. In Macy on August 4, 1954, Loren and Flossie Louise Eash were united in marriage. Together they enjoyed over 55 years of life's adventures. Working at Dean's Foods, Loren worked in bottling of the milk and making cottage cheese. Each spring he enjoyed hunting mushrooms in Tippecanoe State Park and Michigan. As an angler, Loren loved sitting on the banks of the Tippecanoe with his casting rod in hand, landing the catch of the day either his favorites bluegill or catfish. An avid sportsman, Loren enjoyed college basketball especially Bobby Knight's I.U. teams and following the NASCAR circuit. As an entrepreneur, Loren enjoyed produce sales from his truck, especially melons from southern Indiana. He also conducted flea marketing from his own set-up locally at Windy City, Akron and at the swap meets at Wolf Lake. Loren expressed himself artistically, painting concrete cast statues of animals and lawn figurines and sold them to add color to his customers landscape. Left to cherish Loren's memory are a son, Gary Beatty of Rochester; 3 grandsons: Derek Beatty and wife Cree of Rochester, Ryan Beatty of Buffalo, Logan Beatty and wife Jessica of Rochester; 2 great granddaughters: Emma Elaine Beatty and Riley A. Beatty, both of Rochester; a sister, Phyllis Powell of FL; a brother, Bobby Beatty and wife Darlene of Watseka, IL; and his canine companion, Tiny. Preceding Loren in death are his parents, beloved wife Flossie November 7, 2009, a cherished infant daughter, Debra S. Beatty, a treasured son Steven L. Beatty on August 13, 2009 and a loving brother Glenn Beatty. A graveside service for Loren Lee Beatty will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, May 23 at the Akron Cemetery with Pastor Robert Metzger officiating.
